Part of the Tunisian hotel chain El Mouradi Hotels, Club Selima Hotel is located in pretty Port El Kantaoui and close to the historical town of Sousse. With close proximity to a gorgeous sandy beach, lots of onsite activities to enjoy, superb facilities and amenities, and easy access to many historical and cultural attractions, Club Selima Hotel is a great place to enjoy top Tunisian hospitality, relaxation, and a range of cool activities. The property operates on an all-inclusive basis, making holiday budgeting that little bit easier.

Here’s why you should choose Club Selima Hotel when planning your trip to the Sousse area:

Comfortable rooms spread throughout pretty grounds

Whilst Club Selima Hotel is pretty big, with more than 550 rooms, the layout makes it feel fairly quiet and intimate. Rooms are within small low-rise blocks scattered around the complex. The gardens are green and leafy with plenty of pretty flowers. Charming stone paths lead through the grounds between the different blocks. All rooms have a private terrace or balcony with a plastic table and chairs.

Rooms are en suite, with a lovely deep bathtub as well as a powerful shower over the bath.

Furnishings are fairly basic, but you will certainly have enough for a pleasant stay. After all, how much time are you likely to spend in your room other than whilst sleeping?! In addition to a comfortable bed, rooms have a wardrobe, satellite TV, and a telephone. Air-conditioning is available during the peak season (June to September). Cleanliness standards are high and rooms are cleaned every day, unless you specify otherwise.

The property has rooms for two with a double bed or two single beds, as well as triple rooms and rooms for four people.

Prices vary depending on the time of year and whether there are any special promotions in place, but, as a rough guide, double rooms during the peak season cost around 194 TND (approximately 96 USD) per night. Most people book to stay in blocks of seven or 14 days and the hotel is closed over the winter months (between November and February).

All inclusive meals and drinks

The room rate features an all-inclusive meal and drinks plan. This means that all of your meals, drinks, and snacks are included every day. Of course, that’s not to say that you can’t eat or drink elsewhere on the odd occasion if you wish! Some restrictions do apply, for example, you will need to pay for premium-brand alcoholic drinks, whereas local wines and beers etc are included. Food and drinks are available pretty much all throughout the day!

There are two restaurants onsite. One serves a range of food buffet style, meaning that you can eat as much as you like of the things that tempt you the most. This is the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whilst there is a decent enough selection of dishes, the dishes are very similar each day. It could be quite easy to get bored of the buffet, especially if you have any dietary restrictions that limit your options.

Breakfast includes various types of bread and pastries, as well as cereals and fresh fruit. Lunch and dinner have Tunisian dishes, like tagine, and some international fare, such as pasta. A Tunisian tagine is different to that found in other North African countries, such as Morocco and Algeria. Rather than being like a stew, a tagine in Tunisia is very similar to a quiche, but without the pastry. Ingredients like meat, vegetables, and seafood are combined with egg and cheese and then baked until firm. Besides that, the salads are crisp and crunchy and there are often fish dishes. Wine and soft drinks are the only drinks served with lunch and dinner. There is also a pizzeria within the hotel, which is perfect if you fancy a change from the buffet restaurant.

Snacks and ice creams are also available throughout the day. Food is available between the hours of 6:00hr and 21:00 hr, although the pizzeria is only open in the middle of the day (between 12:30hr and 16:00hr).

Club Selima Hotel has four lively bars, including one that is right next to one of the swimming pools. Some guests may find the drinks choices fairly limited, with wine, beer, a few cocktails, and soft drinks, but for a relatively inexpensive all inclusive option the choice isn’t so bad. Bars open and close at different times throughout the day, but there are usually at least two open at any given time between 08:00hr and 23:00hr. Plus, soft drinks are available from 6:00hr in the buffet restaurant.

You can relax with a hot tea or café in the delightfully themed café. Done out so as to look like a traditional Moorish café, it’s the closest you’ll probably get to any Tunisian culture within the hotel complex.

The hotel also has a stylish a la carte restaurant, although meals here are not part of the all inclusive package. The menu is extensive, with a delicious selection of Tunisian and international cuisine, and the prices aren’t so expensive to rule out splashing out on at least one evening for a meal that is a little bit more special.

Club Selima Hotel has two large swimming pools as well as a smaller kids’ pool. The pools are clean and very inviting in the heat of the day! Sun loungers and chairs are provided around the edges for those who want to laze in the sun and top up their suntan. Overhanging trees offer plenty of shade too, so whether you’re a sun worshipper or a shade-lover, you’ll be able to find the perfect place to sit and relax.

If you’re feeling active there are plenty of ways to burn off any excess energy (and calories!). Guests can enjoy a game of tennis, ping pong, darts, pool, or petanque, and archery is available at selected times throughout the day. The hotel has a five-a-side football pitch and a basketball court, so why not grab your mates and have a friendly game? Serious gym bunnies can work out in the small fitness centre. There is a children’s playground and the mini golf is also often popular with younger visitors.

Head to the private stretch of beach and you’ll find soft sands, clear inviting water, sun beds, and parasols. The hotel organises several activities right on the beach too, including energetic beach volleyball. For fun on the waves, you could have a go at kayaking or canoeing.

Various additional activities and competitions are arranged throughout the day, and winners receive a certificate and lots of attention! From archery competitions, belly dancing sessions, basic crash courses in the Arabic language, darts tournaments, and karaoke, you certainly won’t have chance to feel bored! Evening activities include singing and dancing shows, discos, and a diverse assortment of games. Of course, there’s no obligation to join in; it is really easy to find a quiet spot to enjoy a drink and chat in relative peace and quiet. You can be as out-going or as reserved as you like.
