Join us as we take a look at Kaifusou, an inn perfect for those cat lovers out there who also love onsens. Kaifusou is about 3 minutes from Usami Stastion, and is right in front of Usami beach making access here a dream. The other thing here is that it is known as an onsen inn where you can hang out with cats and is popular with cat lovers.

An inn to meet and hang out with cats

A cat comes to greet you as soon as you step into this inn. We are told that there are 4 cats here, 3 adults Hana, Mary, and Tora, and 1 kitten named Fuu. Because Fuu is still a kitten he is especially energetic. They even come into your room at night. There are other cats that are free to walk in and around the inn at all times. Sometimes the cats hide but for the most part you can always meet some new feline friends here.

The décor and pictures are all cats too!

From the entrance to the front desk all the little decorations and pictures are of cats or related to cats. Check out these adorable business cards! Here they give out business cards for the cats with their rank and name with a picture of them. You can tell the owner is absolutely in love with cats.

Listening to the kind hearted owner we found out that originally it was only one cat, but from helping strays or people giving cats that were born to the inn that before they knew the place was filled with cats. All the cats here are friendly and approach you without caution.

Usami the onsen area!

Most people hear of Usami’s beach and that it is also famous as an onsen area. Of course this inn has a hotspring bath as well. This onsen is made up of calcium, chloride, and sulfate, it is supposed to help with nerve pain, muscle aches, joint pain, shoulder aches, and motor paralysis. The bath tub isn’t that big being only a tad larger than a home bath, but it is big enough for a family. The attractive thing here is that you can reserve it all to yourself with no extra charge. This way you can enjoy a luxurious leisurely bath. After bathing your body is heated up and it is supposed to relieve fatigue by the next day.

Experience a homemade meal full of the bounty of the sea

Dining is done in a very traditional Japanese setting, with many seasonal ingredients in the meal! Dinner is a 9 dish meal with sashimi, stewed fish, tempura, and pickles as well as others. Everything is made from local ingredients.

The most surprising is the sashimi plate. You usually see such a display only on TV, with so much volume and freshness. It goes to show how close to the sea you really are here. Everything here is made here, so of course it is absolutely delicious.

In closing, the warm hearted owner and the cats

There are only 7 rooms here making it a small inn, but with the beach close by you can view a very quaint scene from the windows.

Cats that walk about freely, an onsen, fresh seafood, and warm hospitality, what else can you as for from such a comforting inn? Plan to come here next time you have some time to relax as it is only 2 hours away from Tokyo.
