Situated right in the heart of this wonderful historic city, this fabulous two-bedroom property is located on a beautiful leafy square in the elegant Georgian New Town. The apartment is typical in design for its era, dating back to the 1820s, and built with the grandeur that represents its prime. The main sitting room is sizeable, with a beautiful gas fireplace and ornate cornice work. This might be the first and last time you get to sit on an antique gilt chair upholstered in in a bold print motif. Only original pieces of art are hung around this lush property. The interior style is sophisticated, contemporary and calming, a lovely blend of old and new. This Barcelona chair in white leather sure does fit the look. This fully equipped kitchen is not only a cook’s dream place to be, but is also a sociable spot to sit around the large granite kitchen table while you eat or watch the cook do their magic! This spacious lounge has deep ornate cornices framing the high ceilings, a flat-screen TV with surround sound, and an antique mantelpiece that houses an open fire. The main highlight would have to be the fabulous bay window, which will take you outdoors with just a glance. Eat in style with this glass-topped table fit for eight. The master bedroom consists of a mahogany bed and full length gilt-edged mirror, the perfect room for rest and relaxation. Climb up the removable ladder to reach probably the most conducive study spot ever. It has a distinguished history and a wonderful literary connection with Robert Louis Stevenson (it was his mother’s family home). Pilrig House is uniquely located in a tranquil park, yet it is only a short stroll or 5 minutes by bus to Edinburgh centre and the many tourist attractions. Be enchanted and relive many scenes in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novels; he mentions Pilrig House in lots of his stories and letters.
