You have booked your hotel and now you are wondering where to go. Or maybe you are sitting in your hotel, watching television, wanting to see what San Diego has in store for you. From the San Diego Zoo to Balboa Park, the possibilities are endless. Here are eight things you can do in San Diego that you will not regret!

1. Love gardens? Then Balboa Park is a must see!

Posted by Balboa Park on Tuesday, 3 January 2017

There are Japanese gardens, rose gardens, botanical gardens and museums – Balboa Park is huge. You will not be able to get through it all within a day, but you can try. There is a little train that takes you through the park and it is such an adventure to explore.

They have a private Segway tour for 55 USD and up, a sightseeing tour that includes the La Jolla area, starting at 46 USD and lastly, a Segway tour of Balboa Park from 69 USD. It is completely inexpensive for how much of the park you get to see – and you’ll see so much more than if you were walking.

This park is something to see – if you want to see it all – make sure you have a few days blocked off because you will need it.

2. One of two parks where you can see as many animals as the eye can see: the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

These spotted sisters are viewable from 9am-5pm in the nursery at Nairobi Station. Feedings are at 10am, 1:30pm & 4pm. Watch the video of their debut: https://youtu.be/HvvZEDYX4iw

If you want something more than caged animals, you have come to the right place. The San Diego Zoo Safari Park has free-roaming animals and is a fun time to spend in the sunny weather. This park alone takes about four to six hours to finish, but you do not have to see the whole attraction. This is a fun day for friends, kids, families, and even solo.

The prices are reasonable ranging from 30 - 60 USD. A one day pass is 52 USD for adults and 42 USD for children over three and does not include parking or you can purchase a Go San Diego Card for 189 USD for adults, which gives you access to over 48 attractions in the San Diego area.

For a safari park like this, you would think it would be more expensive. This is a must-see when you are in San Diego.

3. If your family loves history, then the USS Midway Museum is a San Diego sight to see.

You can see the flight deck, aircraft carrier, the engine room and learn about military history on this ship. What makes this museum magical is the ship has been restored and everything is in such beautiful condition. It makes it meaningful to see in person – everyone is nice and knows a lot about the history of the ship, itself. At the USS Midway Museum, you get to see the ship and learn about the history from people who are closely related, or took the time to research the history to tell you about it.

The USS Midway Museum prices go from 18 USD for adults when purchased online and 8 USD for kids from age 6 - 12.

This is great for a family trip to keep the kids entertained throughout the day. You can spend hours on this ship alone - typically, customers spend about four hours here.

4. The San Diego Zoo is stunning to see close-up.

Posted by San Diego Zoo on Tuesday, 3 January 2017

You can see pictures online, but if you have the chance to go to the San Diego Zoo, please do. You can see pandas, polar bears, hippos, cheetahs, and so many more animals that are not in regular city zoos. Make sure to wear walking shoes because you are going to be in for a day ahead of you.

The Kangaroo bus is a hop-on-hop-off bus that makes stops all through the park as is included in the admission price. This is important because they will take you to where you need to go so you do not have to walk through the whole park. Make sure you take advantage of those bus stops. The wildlife you can see here, you can’t see anywhere else, making this zoo something to see when you come to San Diego.

Prices start at 52 USD for adults for a one day pass or 42 USD for children or you can buy a Zoo and Safari Park Combo ticket for 83.25 USD for adults and 73.25 for kids. If you come to San Diego, don’t miss a chance to see a polar bear!
