Take a break from the big city hustle at one of London’s oldest garden squares, the Bloomsbury Square. Located in the Holburn section of Camden, this late 17th-century square has been a breath of fresh air since the Fourth Earl of Southampton developed the area under its original name of Southampton Square. Originally, the Bedford House, now used as an event space, sits at the north end of the square with terraced homes along the other side occupied by the fashionable gentry. As the area fell from favor, many of the residential buildings were converted into offices. The square is about a block east of the British Museum. You can easily reach the Bloomsbury Square by public transit through the Holburn Tube station. Nearby hotels and vacation rentals are located near the area, some of which are listed below.
