Located within Akan National Park is Akan Lake. It is a stunning wetland that is one of Japan’s 50 Ramsar sites (a wetland deemed to be of national importance to Japan’s unique ecosystem). Here, visitors can take a relaxing boat-ride over the sparkling waters of the lake, or try their hand at reeling in red salmon. During the winter, visitors are welcome to go skiing and snowboarding. Visitors will also enjoy a number of attractions nearby. There is the Akanko Onsen (a wellness spa and hot spring where you can relax and unwind) as well as the Inari Shrine, where one can see the fascinating icons dedicated to the deity Inari.
