The Rockwell Museum of Western Art, located in Corning, New York, aims to share a diverse collection of American art. The museum founder, Robert F. Rockwell, Jr., purchased his first western painting in 1959, and the rest is history. The museum started off in the founder’s departmental store, and today resides in the Old City Hall in downtown Corning. The museum has a permanent collection which consists of 19th century paintings, photography, and historic firearms, to name a few. They rotate temporary exhibitions, and they also host a variety of events.
