The Visoki Decani is a medieval monastery that is perched in Kosovo’s Decani town. It was founded in the early 14th century by the then Serbian King. Its construction was completed in 1335. Sitting at the foot of the Prokletje Mountains, the monastery is surrounded by nature’s beauty. It rises to a height of 26 meters and its windows are beautifully decorated. The monastery has murals that make up the largest gallery of Serbian medieval art that you’ll surely enjoy viewing on your visit here. You can also visit the Balkan peaks that are a few minutes’ walk away from the monastery. The Patriarchate of Pec, an operational monastery, is another great place to visit in the area.
