This campground is a captivating area with a little bit of local history behind it. Prior to 1967, the area was a private resort and hosted a hotel built in 1879 by Charles F. Taylor. The manor was demolished when the area was acquired by New York State, which developed the area into a popular summer destination with a sprawling campground and a vast shoreline.
