Design ideas will be judged according to four main elements: originality, feasibility, sustainability, and experience. The captivating space must be surprisingly one-of-a-kind yet achievable and compliant with building codes. Most importantly, it should be the right mix of a bizarre and comfortable home. All winning designs are targeted for completion by August 2023.
Design and build enthusiasts, or any aspiring designers and makers alike, will have to submit their applications until July 22 at 11:59 pm ET. The panel will go through all the applications over the next several months to choose the 100 recipients of the 10 million USD OMG! Fund.

The submissions will be reviewed by a discerning panel of experts from the design and hospitality industry:

- Kristie Wolfe, Airbnb Superhost and mastermind of many OMG! listings including two treehouses, a fairytale-style home, and the prolific Potato Hotel

Hosting on Airbnb
Since the pandemic, there’s been a growing trend of flexible living. Alongside this trend, people are also interested in travelling to unique listings that are destinations themselves. The OMG! Category, which showcases a collection of the most unique stays on Airbnb was launched in May 2022, and within the month garnered 2.5 million clicks.
Airbnb’s recently released data shows that travel has remained strong throughout the pandemic, and because of this, the economic benefits as a host on Airbnb are great. In 2021, the earnings of a typical US Host increased by 85% from 2019, which translates to an annual gross of 13,800 USD.
This upward scale is also observed in new Hosts in the US as their collective earnings went over 1.8 billion USD, up 34% from 2019. Also gradually becoming a global trend, if it hasn’t already, unique properties saw a jump in bookings by 49% in 2021 compared to 2019.
