Put on your reading glasses to check out the guide to Aksa Beach, Mumbai.
Things to do/ highlights
Gather your significant other, family and friends to this popular beach to splash and play in the cool waters especially if you’re travelling during the summer months where average temperatures can reach up to 32 °C (90 °F). If you want to fully enjoy the golden sand and all Aksa Beach has to offer, you may want to avoid travelling during the peak monsoon months in July and August as you will most likely experience strong winds and thunderstorms.
Enjoy photography
Being one of the cleanest beaches in Mumbai, there is no better chance than now to snap a few photos that can last a lifetime. What better time than during vacation to update the ‘gram? Remember to stay for the stunning sunset view!
Exercise
If you have taken one or even a couple of food tours, then maybe it’s a good idea to lose some calories during the trip. Walk, stroll or jog your way to your 10,000-step goal along the long shoreline and your body will thank you after the trip. Get a suntan or practice your yoga moves by the beach.
Have a picnic
Pack a few snacks in your picnic basket before heading to Aksa Beach or purchase some food from the nearby eatery stalls and find a good spot to chill or read a book.
Where to eat
Food stalls set up by local vendors are available in the vicinity. Alternatively, you may head to Viraj Maggi & Corn or Harshala Bhelpuri Corner (Mhatre Bandhu) for some fast and yummy street food. Vegetarian options are available too. Located a short three-minute walk away is Dariya Kinara Family Restaurant which serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options like chicken, mutton and seafood dishes. Since they are open from 11am to 11pm daily, it’s a good place to fill those tummies after catching the sunrise or sunset at Aksa Beach.
Travel tips
Going to a country away from home can be scary if you are not aware of the local cultures and what is accepted or frowned upon. These are some travel tips we think you should look out for if you’re planning a trip to Aksa Beach or in fact, beaches in India.
Safety
Since there are usually strong ocean currents and quicksands in the waters, swimming is not recommended. While the waters may be shallow, it’s good to not head too far into the sea.
Avoid public display of affection
While it may be common for couples to make out at beaches in other parts of the world, one may want to think twice at Mumbai. Avoid physical intimacy in public areas.
Attire
A sari (the national Indian garment) or kurta is usually worn by locals but if you’re heading to the beach, you would prefer to wear something that is light and suitable for the warm temperatures. If so, it’s ideal to pair a top with shorts/bermudas or don a loose beach dress. Something too revealing may lead you to unwanted stares since India is a moderately conservative country. To avoid any unpleasant situations, observe the attire worn by visitors at the beach and be sure to blend in with the crowd.
