3. Qila Mubarak
One thing to see in Bathinda is Qila Mubarak, a great historical monument built back in 90-110 AD. The history begins with the imprisonment of Delhi sultanate, Razia Sultana. The fort was built during the reign of the Kushanas and is bigger than its competitor, based in Lahore, Hanumangarh, and Phillour. One of the many tourist places in Bathinda is Bir Talab Zoo. If you would like to spend some fun time with your family and kids then this is the best place. The zoo is located in the Bir Talab forest area. It houses many types of animals and birds plus many exciting rides for children. The small gardens and lawns inside the zoo are well maintained so that visitors can sit and relax. Varieties of birds and deer are the main attraction of Bir Talab Zoo. Reports say that every year thousands of visitors come to explore this zoo’s beauty. You can find different types of birds like pigeons, peacocks, parakeets and fowls in one place. The best advisable time for visiting Bir Talab Zoo is between 10 am to 5 pm. Make sure not to visit the zoo on a public holiday as it will be closed.

6. Bathinda Lake
On your way to Bathinda City, you will be attracted to the beautiful Bathinda Lake. 7. Damdama Sahib
Located around 18 km (11 mi) away from the city is Damdama Sahib. If you find yourself at a place called Talwandi Tehsil then don’t worry, it’s the same place. The story behind the name is that after a battle with Mughals at Chamkaur Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, and Muktsar, Guru Gobind Singh went to the forest of Malwa. In the Talwandi, Guru Gobind took rest (Dam) for 9 months and 9 days. This is when the place was named “Damdama Sahib”. It is also known as Khalse Da Takhat. It was officially recognized as the Fifth Takht of Sikhism, on 18th November 1966.

9. Lakhi Jungle
Lakhi Jungle is located 15 km (9.3 mi) away from Bathinda. This is the only place where Shri Guru Nayak Ji had narrated Shri Japuji Sahib’s 100,000 holy paths and that is the reason behind the name of this jungle. Lakhi Jungle was also visited by Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh and 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tej Bahadur.
10. Maiser Khana Temple

On the Bathinda-Mansa Road, at a distance of 29 km (18 mi), you can find Maiser Khana Temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Jwala Ji and Durga. It is believed that the Jyoti (Represents salute to God) of Mata Jwala appeared to a poor devotee named “Kamala”, who was not able to reach the temple and in order to his devotee, Goddess Durga pleased with prayer and blessed her vision twice a year, so each year two grand Fairs are held here on Ashtami (Eighth day of Hindu Calendar) and it is visited by lakhs of devotees. The most visited time for this place is during the Fair, where Hindus and Sikhs both participate. Mahavir Dal and Hansraj took the initiative to build this temple in 1951.

11. Bahia Fort (from USD 25)
Bahia Fort was built in 1930 and is located in front of the main fort. It once served as a formal residence of the army of Patiala. In 1980, this fort was converted into a four star hotel and was renovated to give both a modern and traditional touch. The government has reconfirmed the status of 4 star again in 2009. Currently, it has the most beautiful and spacious 43 luxury rooms with all modern facilities and a banquet hall or conference room with the capacity to accommodate 500 people.
