The oldest city in the Indian State of Punjab, today Jalandhar is a buzzing commercial center with several industries and places of religious and historical importance. Before the establishment of Chandigarh, Jalandhar was the capital of Punjab. Situated on the Grand Trunk Road the magnificent city is known for its historical monuments, rich cultural heritage, and traditional values. It has several tourist attractions including tombs, monuments, and temples. Known for the sports industry and steel mills, Jalandhar is an ideal place to buy sports equipment. The sports materials manufactured here are exported to various countries. It is also a good place to purchase leather goods, rubber goods, and auto parts. This is a brilliant amusement/water park on the outskirts of Jalandhar, providing enough punch for the kids to enjoy throughout the day. The park has a variety of thrilling rides, including flying jets, bumper cars, a haunted house, boating, an aqua dance floor, and more with a one-time entry fee in the park. The garden has great landscaping and is well maintained. There are also food joints that sell good food at reasonable rates. It is a place for the whole family to come and enjoy, the best place to spend time in the summer season.

2. Devi Talab Mandir (Temple)

This is a very sacred temple, situated on a lake. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, the 200 year old Devi Talab Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India and it is believed that Sati’s right breast fell here. The main temple is made of gold where the statues of Saraswati Mata Ji, Sheriawali Mata Ji, Laxmi Mata Ji are situated. It has many other temples inside and it also has a food court named Annapurna Hall. This temple is known for the annual Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan held in the month of December. The 200-year-old large masonry tank is considered sacred by the Hindus.

3. Shaheed-E-Azam Museum

Dedicated to Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh, a great revolutionary martyr of Punjab who sacrificed his life for the Independence of India, this historic place speaks volumes about the atrocities of Britishers. His house is also situated close to this museum. It throws light on the life of our Freedom Fighters, the real heroes.

4. Rangla Punjab Haveli

This is a traditional Punjabi village themed resort, portraying the looks and specialties of a Punjab village. An excellent venue for Punjabi food, it has a collection of antique artifacts, waiters dressed in Tehmat-kurtas and Phulkari jackets, fresh popcorn, Punjabi folk music, captivating dances, stunning magic shows, rural treats, fortune tellers, potters (they even let you try your hand at it), Gud Tea and a sumptuous meal. Karahi paneer, Dal tadka, and kheer are its top-selling, all-season delicacies. In winter, Sarson da Saag and Makki (Maze) di roti is the favorite dish.

5. Pushpa Gujral Science City

A nice project set up on 72 acres (29 hectares) of land by the Government of India and Punjab Government, it inculcates and encourages scientific temper among the kids and adults. Discoveries and representations in the field of science are displayed beautifully all around the hall. A perfect blend of knowledge and entertainment, the center has various sections dealing with biology, space, and others. Each section is replete with working models and information charts. The Evolution of Dinosaur, Dome Theater, and the 3D Laser show related to earth are worth watching. This is a wonderland for school going kids with multiple shows. There is a children park and lake also to hang out.

6. Gurudwara Talhan Sahib Ji

Situated in the village Talhan amidst a wonderful market is this spiritual place, usually with a fewer crowd so you can stroll around and experience the peace and serenity of the place. The Gurdwara is surrounded by many shops selling love trinkets. Langar (free kitchen) is available at Gurudwara. Talhan is also famous for its annual Shaheedi Jor Mela (fair) held in the memory of Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh. The fair is a big attraction in Jalandhar.

7. St. Mary's Cathedral Church

Located on the Mall Road Jalandhar Cantt, this historic cathedral was built by Rev. Fr. John McDonnell in 1947. The magnificent church was designed to highlight the secular character of India and the inside view of the church is quite beautiful. Its ornate design and architecture set it apart from all the other structures in the town. The peace and tranquillity of the place is quite captivating, and the atmosphere is most alive on Sundays and on Christmas.
