Pokolbin has three major estates that provide not only top restaurants, but also outdoor amphitheaters that hold regular outdoor concerts with a dining package.

The Hunter Valley local markets in Pokolbin are famous for their artisanal products made with fresh local ingredients. Hunt for special gifts or mementos at the local markets such as the Hunter Wine Country Market and the Handmade in the Hunter Market.

The Hunter Wine Country Market is held every Saturday and it is a boutique handmade market showcasing local artisans and their range of products from fashion, food, jewelry, handmade soaps, candles, woodwork, pottery and much more. They are located at De Bortoli Wines in Pokolbin. When they have rain or wind, you will find them inside the De Bortoli Wines barrel room. Please note that there are no markets in January.

The Handmade in the Hunter Market is also a famous local market that shows the variety and quality of goods grown, made, and crafted by Hunter Valley artisans. The markets are held on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, and Saturdays and Sundays of long weekends from 9am to 3pm. This market is the longest running, most popular, 100% handmade, ‘meet-the-maker’ market in the area. You will meet and talk with the grower, maker, or artist behind the expertly crafted, truly unique, “Handmade in the Hunter” Valley creations.

Conveniently located near the three major concert venues, (Hope Estate, Bimbadgen, Roche Estate wineries), restaurants, and the Hunter Valley Gardens, the Handmade in the Hunter Market is held to coincide with concert dates and other major vineyard events.

This venue is not for the faint-hearted or the sensitive-nosed, because true to its name, this shop is really smelly.
