If you want to explore green mountains and blue rivers and get in touch with the flora and fauna of the region, follow the path of the Grand Bisse de Vercorin, that dates from the end of the 14th century, and delight your eyes with the view. One of the great features of this walk is that you can go across the Vallon de Réchy, a conserved natural reserve with waterfalls, a lake, lots of colourful vegetation and interesting fauna.

You won’t find any cars on your way. The path is 6 km (3.7 miles) long with a few highlights on the way, like the La Lé snack bar, where you can rest with a nice view and try some Valais specialities.

2. Farm holidays: Perfect for kids!

The Arche des Crétillons agritourism farm is a place where families can spend an entire day. It’s located in a beautiful area with a stunning view of the Rhône plain. For little kids, it’s a great opportunity to learn a lot about farm life and they will find it entertaining to play with the farm animals. The visit also gives you the option to purchase many of the farm products, which are completely homemade.

3. The Adventure Forest: Adventure for all ages

If you want to introduce your children to thrilling sensations, this forest is going to change their lives. The Adventure Forest is a circuit of obstacles, very safe for kids, like you’ve never seen before. In one visit you’ll experience zip-lines, rope swings and bridges, and all this in a very natural forest, full of green trees.

Your children will test their agility and balance and they’ll be braver after trying the various activities. And by bedtime, they’ll be exhausted and eager to go to sleep. Among the five courses of the adventure forest, you’ll find activities like quick jump, which is basically bungee jumping, but less extreme and which will have you landing softly on a platform 13 metres (42.7 feet) below. There is also wall climbing, scooters to take through the mountain fields, a marmot trail, where you’ll see the iconic mammal of the region, and much more fun to discover!

4. Three Bisses Circuit: Hope your shoes are made for walking

We are talking about the real thing here. A five-hour hike where you can explore the different streams that go through the mountains. This is not an adventure for amateurs and you can only do it with a guide, making it a unique excursion, in the region. Get to know a path only a few men in the world know.

This is a tour that starts early, takes the whole day and is not advised for vertigo sufferers.

5. Vercojazz 2017: The best jazz in the alps

This festival is one of the events that gives Vercorin its notoriety. Bands from Valais, the rest of Switzerland and from France will travel to the village for the 2017 edition, which takes place from July 28th to July 30th.

Spend the day outdoors, with your family, as a couple or by yourself, enjoying the wonderful music in a beautiful mountain village.

6. One of the best places to celebrate Swiss National Day

On August 1, the whole country celebrates Swiss National Day. This is one of the most important events of the year, in the middle of summer, with festivities in each village. It has been an official national holiday since 1994 and in Vercorin, the celebrations start at 1:30 pm. If you stay until 10 pm, you can enjoy the fireworks display.

On July 23rd, Vercorin has a treat for you! In this village, you will find the celebrations of Natural Health Day. If you are trying to have a healthy holiday, you’ll learn how, during this festival. For this edition, there will be 26 stalls with different products, like regional homemade food and plenty of organic food, as well as music and entertainment.
