Augusta, Georgia, a seemingly small town, becomes lively with tourists, golfers, and spectators when the most famous golf tournament in the world, The Masters (featuring stars such as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson), is held annually every April. Hotels closest to the golf course book quickest, and become the most expensive, so another option will be to stay in a hotel closer to the interstate that will give you better value for your money.

Spacious room with a kitchenette

Kitchenette in the room

Candlewood Suites Augusta is a chain hotel owned by hotel giant IHG. If you stay in a Candlewood Suites in one location, you’ll know the quality to expect if you go to another Candlewood Suites property in another city. This type of hotel typically offers comfortable king or queen beds, with a desk and a chair (should you want to do a bit of work), but Candlewood Suites Augusta has a bonus – it’s got a lounge chair and an ottoman located in front of the TV! What a perfect way to spend the night, right?

Every room has a kitchen with a big refrigerator, a small stove, some pots as well as plates, glasses and utensils. Candlewood Suites always makes their guests feel like they are staying in an apartment of their own, instead of a normal hotel room. This also helps you to self-cater your own meals so you don’t have to go out (save more money!), but a downside is that free breakfast is not included. Instead, you can purchase breakfast from the Candlewood Pantry, which is open 24/7.

Outdoor picnics

The picnic area at Candlewood Suites Augusta GA

Unlike many other hotels, the Candlewood Suites Augusta, Georgia does not have a pool for you to relax in after a hot summer’s day. They do, however, have outdoor picnic areas where you can sit and relax, or just eat your food outside. There’s also a gym that’s available 24/7, and a big laundry room, perfect for those who are staying for longer periods of time. No need to pay top dollar for a hotel’s laundry service!

Highways and steakhouses

Your view from the highway heading to downtown

The location is just off the highway, which means it’s fine if you’re just using it as a stopover for your next destination, but don’t expect a great view from your hotel room. There’s not much to see within walking distance, but there are numerous food options within a short driving distance away from the hotel. I recommend Longhorn Steakhouse, a sit-down chain restaurant that’s quite reasonably priced for the great food you’ll get. Try the peach iced tea, it’s definitely something unique and refreshing. You should go in the early evening if you don’t have a reservation, it does get crowded pretty quickly.

Convenience and the comfort of home at Candlewood Suites Augusta

If you are looking for a convenient and mid-range hotel to stay in Augusta, or while stopping over for transit, do consider the Candlewood Suites Augusta. Its extended stay option makes it a great place for you to rest your head for longer stays, whether for business or for leisure. It also gives you the feeling of being in your own apartment, without being in one!
