With its location on a quiet street in a pedestrian zone, Cityhotel Trumer Stube is a winner. This petite-sized hotel features just 20 rooms but offers personal attention typically found in more expensive hotels.

Room types

room 541

Three types of rooms are offered. Choose a small budget room on the first floor, directly behind the reception desk with a mere 129 sq ft/11.98 m sq, a standard double room with 161 sq ft/14.957 m sq, a premium double room with 183 sq ft/17 m sq, a triple room with 215 sq ft/19.97 m sq, or a quadruple room with 269 sq ft/24.99 m sq. The budget room comes with a king bed; a standard double room comes with a king bed, as does the premium double room. The triple room has a twin bed and king bed. The largest room, the quadruple room, comes with two king beds. Due to the small size of the rooms, City Hotel Trumer Stube is best suited for couples.

All rooms are clean and modern. Each room has an ample wardrobe, luggage rack, upscale coffee maker, flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and an electric kettle. Although the rooms are small, they are well-designed to make the most of the tiny space. Since most travelers will be out an about throughout the day, a small room shouldn’t be worrisome. Some rooms have decent views of the city, especially room 541, and all have elevator access to avoid climbing stairs. Be aware that while room 541 has great views, it also has a dormer that lowers the ceiling above the right side of the bed making this one of the smallest rooms. If it’s raining outside, you’ll be glad to know the hotel furnishes umbrellas by the front door. Also near the front door is a small table with juice and water. During the afternoon, look for complimentary cake in this area.

Close to transportation

Salzburg view

The train station is close by making for a short taxi ride, or 15-minute walk. After you reach the hotel, unpack and hit the ground running. Parking is available for 15 EUR (18.36 USD) per day, by request in advance if needed. The Altstadt District is full of shops and restaurant and an old church just uphill that begs to be explored. Cityhotel Trumer Stube is located within easy reach of the Old City, just across the river. The friendly front desk staff will give you directions and draw your destination on a map for your convenience. You will find it easy to come and go due to their excellent location. Also nearby is the Marketplatz bus stop with buses to most anywhere you want to go in the area.

Get some good local grub

For meals, the hotel offers only breakfast each morning from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and costs 9 EUR (10.98 USD) per person. Breakfast consists of an assortment of cereal, bread, jam, cold meat and cheese, and beverages both hot and cold. Plenty of other restaurants are close by for a more substantial breakfast. For a splurge, try breakfast at the Hotel Sacher, just a five-minute walk towards the river. For lunch and dinner, find the Gablerbrau (open since 1429) just around the corner on Linzergasse. This well-known restaurant has been around for over 600 years and serves up tasty Bavarian fare like wiener schnitzel, beef ragout, oxtail soup, and other hearty meals. Gablerbrau also is a fun place to stop in for beer and wine.

For dinner, the Hotel Stadtkrug is also an old established business. They have been around for over 500 years and serve dinner most nights in a small and charming dining room. Their prices are reasonable, and dinner for two with beer or wine can be had for under 35 EUR (42.69 USD). Reservations are recommended, as it’s not a big dining room. Other recommended restaurants for dinner are Zum Fidelen Affen and Wasserfall. Both of these restaurants are just around the corner from Cityhotel Trumer Stube.

Excellent service when problems arise

At the end of our stay, we found the reception staff, especially July, to be accommodating when I lost my passport wallet. It was the day before leaving the country and July was willing to do all she could to help with this challenging situation. July patiently helped me call long-distance to the U.S. to cancel credit cards and my ATM card at no charge! It’s customer service like this that would have me come back for another stay. From most reviews online you will see comments stating a high level of customer service. With a great location and excellent service I believe you will love staying at the Cityhotel Trumer Stube.
