Buca di Beppo is an Italian restaurant, which has chain restaurants across the United States. The one in Hawaii is only found in Honolulu, and is located in Ward, right next to the movie theater. Because of its location, many locals enjoy visiting Buca di Beppo before and after watching a movie at this local family-friendly, authentic Italian restaurant.

Well, in the case of Honolulu, it is right by the movie theater in Ward where Hawaiian locals enjoy going, but it is also because it is a colorful, friendly and fun environment where families and friends can all get together. There is outdoor seating as well as a large indoor seating area, and tables can be intimate for seating two people, or you can also have a big group of people dining together. What makes Buca di Beppo even more special, are the decorations throughout the restaurant. Once you step into the restaurant it is so colorful, and so much fun. The restaurant is full of very warm and welcoming colors that you wouldn’t usually expect to find in other restaurant settings!
One of a kind restaurant
Yes, the restaurant is definitely one of a kind. Once you step through the entrance, you will for sure be entertained by all the decorations you see on the walls, even onto the ceilings. It is so memorable that once you visit one of the chains, you will certainly remember your time here even after you visit the other chains in various parts of the US. As a matter of fact, I have visited a Buca di Beppo in Florida, and was taken to the one in Honolulu twice, and right away I knew I had been to this restaurant before. It is so colorful and so busy, but in a good way. You will not be bored checking out all the decorations and pictures you see at the restaurant. It is not only the entrance, but the entire hallway is filled with elaborate decorations, so you have a lot of things to be entertained by, even before you get to your seat!
Take a tour and eat in the kitchen!
Another entertaining event you experience before being seated at your table, is that you get to walk into the kitchen to have a quick tour of how your food will be prepared. The chefs in each department are friendly, giving you a smile and greeting you when you tour the kitchen. If you like it, you can even reserve a table in the kitchen. Yes, everything is out in open here at Buca di Beppo. I have never eaten in the kitchen of a restaurant before, but if you are interested, you just need to make a special reservation.

Everything is big
Something you want to definitely remember before going to Buca di Beppo is that the portions of food are huge here! Every time I go here, my friends always remind me that everything is huge at Buca di Beppo. If you do not mind taking food back to your hotel, it is not a big deal, but this is one of those restaurants where you want to do family style so that you can share appetizers, salad, and main dishes, rather than each person ordering one dish each. This is an Italian restaurant, so as well as the portions being quite large, the food can become pretty heavy after some time, so make sure to leave some space in your stomach. The picture shown is of an appetizer set of 3 different things that I shared with 3 other people before ordering a salad and main dish, which I also shared.
Good Italian and good entertainment
Buca di Beppo is a great Italian restaurant to go to if you are looking for an entertaining, playful restaurant setting. The staff and chefs here are friendly, and provide services that you usually do not get at other Italian restaurants. From a tour of the kitchen to a complementary picture taking service (the first one is free, the rest you have to pay), it is fun, almost like a restaurant you would find in an amusement park. Personally, I do not think of it as being a very romantic spot for a date, but it is an ideal place to have a get together with family and friends. If you are traveling with your family, why don’t you go and experience everything here, and even reserve a table in the kitchen.
