Cool Hotel In A Great Location: Wellton Centrum, Riga

Comfortable rooms

With 144 rooms in a variety of configurations and sizes, there is likely a room that will suit your taste. You can choose from the single, standard, superior, triple, and suites. I had the pleasure of staying in the standard room, which had an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed. A flat screen TV was mounted on the wall opposite the bed, which was great for relaxing with a show after a long day exploring Riga.

Also in the room was a desk with a comfortable chair, perfect for catching up on emails or doing a quick bit of work. There were also bedside reading lamps, which makes reading before bed very comfortable and relaxing.

In room amenities include coffee and tea, free Wi-Fi, and floor heating, perfect for the colder months. At my time of visit, it was very cold and snowy in Riga, and the floor heating made the room comfortably warm and very cozy. It was an excellent amenity to have available.

Depending on the room you book, you will either enjoy a walk-in shower or a bathtub with a shower. The bathrooms are clean and well-lit, and toiletries such as shampoo and soap are provided.

Pet owners will be happy to hear that pets are also welcome at the Wellton Centrum, so if you happen to be traveling with your cat or dog, this is the accommodation for you.

Impressive breakfast

A complimentary buffet breakfast is available in Wellton Centrum’s restaurant, Melna Bita (which translates to Black Bee). Breakfast is served from 7 am until 11 am on weekdays and 7:30 am to 11 am on weekends and public holidays. The breakfast buffet is surprisingly well stocked and has cheese, Latvian bread, fresh fruit, cereal, porridge, meat, Latvian pancakes, eggs, and more. Coffee, tea, and fruit juices are also available. The highlight of the breakfast has to be the sparkling white wine that you can have to accompany your breakfast. You can be sure that I had a glass or two during my stay! Go ahead and enjoy one yourself, you are on vacation after all! The restaurant itself has a wonderful atmosphere with exposed brick walls and cool bee wallpaper.

Great location

Riga’s old town is best explored on foot and you’ll be happy to hear that from Wellton Centrum, is just a five minute walk to the House of Blackheads. The 42 m/138 ft Freedom Monument is also nearby, as are several restaurants and cute shops. Riga’s old town is packed with gorgeous Art Nouveau architecture, historical buildings, and great museums.

If you are connecting via train or bus from another nearby city, you’ll be happy to hear that the Riga Central Station is just a short walk away.
