Located across from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, there is the newest nightclub and lounge, Sky Waikiki, providing a unique space you have not seen elsewhere here in Waikiki. It is an open-air nightclub and lounge, which is at the 19th floor of a high-raised building on Kalakaua Avenue. It provides an incredible panoramic view of Waikiki where you can enjoy a sunset dinner with family and friends, or enjoy a night out with your friends and co-workers.

If you are not so much into nightlife, don’t worry! From Sunday through Thursday, Sky Waikiki acts more like a bistro restaurant where families and friends can get together to enjoy the incredible view, food, and drink. It is a fancy lounge, but still family friendly so you will see a wide range of people from different age groups before it turns into a nightlife venue.

Sunday through Thursday it is called “Sunset Hours”, and it operates from 5:00pm to midnight with a dress code of resort casual. On Friday and Saturday though, Sky Waikiki offers “Nightlife Hours” from 9:00pm to 2:00am, and still has sunset hours from 5:00pm onwards. The dress code is collared shirts, dress shoes, fashionable attire, and heels.

Enjoy the local Specialty

Before you start dancing, or after a long day of traveling around Oahu, you can enjoy dinner or share a few appetizers and drinks with your friends at Sky Waikiki. The pizza with fresh maguro is what everyone is recommended to try when you visit Sky Waikiki. The fresh maguro is great with spicy sauce, which reminds you of the spicy ahi bowl that is both famous, and popular in Hawaii. People also enjoy eating shrimp and oysters at Sky Waikiki.

Of course, as well as local pupus (Hawaiian word for appetizers), you can also have something basic like french friends at Sky Waikiki. If you are thinking about having a solid dinner, you could also go to the Top of Waikiki, which is a restaurant above Sky Waikiki owned by the same people, but offering more varieties of food.

Let’s Dance!

On Friday and Saturday nights, Sky Waikiki turns into a nightclub after 9:00pm. For those of you who want to enjoy the sunset and an appetizer, or two, before dancing, you can arrive early to enjoy the ambience with a couple of drinks before you start moving. It changes into the nightlife venue at 9:00pm, but the kitchen closes at 7:30pm so you want to make sure to get there early enough if you want to sit and eat.

The dance floor itself is not gigantic, but it is neatly situated allowing people to move to the rooftop area to take a break from dancing, and chat with friends. It seems a lot of people enjoy the rooftop very much, so a lot more people are packed in the rooftop area chatting and drinking, but the dance floor also gets its energy after 11:00pm or so. The live music played during the “Sunset Hours” changes to a DJ spinning music at 9:00pm. The crowd also changes with ladies being in higher heels, tight dresses, and more styles.

During the evening before the sun sets you get to see the ocean, Diamond Head, and Waikiki Beach. After the sun sets, it changes to a shiny Waikiki city filled with millions of city lights. Hawaii, being much warmer than the majority of places on this planet during winter, even during autumn, you get to enjoy the rooftop’s nice breeze, which brings you a big smile. It is definitely worth visiting the lounge, so make sure to jot the information down if you are traveling to Hawaii in the near future.
