At the heart of the world famous Dead Sea the Daniel Hotel is located. Right in the middle of Ein Bokek, where almost all the Dead Sea hotels are located, the Daniel commands a beautiful view of the sea and provides all one could wish for in a pampering Dead Sea spa. The hotel is big with over 300 rooms, yet the welcome is warm and friendly. The large lobby beckons and the seating areas are inviting.

Healing at the Dead Sea

Shizen Spa

The restorative properties of the Dead Sea are world famous, and the highlight of a Dead Sea vacation is spending time in the spa. At the Daniel Hotel, the Shizen Spa lives up to its name, offering the best that nature has to offer. The Shizen Spa at the Daniel Hotel provides an array of delights ranging from a heated Dead Sea water pool, both indoor and outdoor, a hot tub, a large “jet"pool, and even a cold pool to cool off after after a serious steam, sauna or sulfur session. All this is included in your room rate with no extra charge.

Serious sulfur

The sulfur is actually, to my mind, the high point of the spa visit. Unlike most other spas at the Dead Sea, that charge for entrance to the sulfur pool, at the Daniel there is no additional cost. Sulfur water, if you have never experienced it, is unlike any other. Healing properties for everything ranging from arthritis to gout to blood pressure will be improved by a soak in the sulfur bath. The relaxation and “sulfur buzz” alone is worth the trip down to the Dead Sea. After fifteen minutes in the sulfur one is ready for a dip in either the cold pool indoors, or a leisurely swim in the Olympic size outdoor pool.

A walk to the beach

For the full experience of the Dead Sea, a short walk from the hotel will bring you to the water’s edge where you can soak in the Sea and experience nature at its best. The temperature of the water varies with the season, but bathers can be found in the waters 365 days a year. The beachfront has recently undergone a renovation, and lounge chairs, shady areas, and showers for bathers can be found. There are two walkways straight from the hotel to the beach which makes it both easy and comfortable to get there.

Accommodations and more

There are a variety of rooms at the Daniel, ranging from rooms for couples, to family rooms to suites. The rooms are all well-appointed, with exceptionally comfortable beds affording a wonderful night’s sleep after all that relaxation in the spa. Each room is provided with a small refrigerator, a kettle, and the makings for coffee and tea.

Food, food, food

The hotel dining room is located on the lowest level and overlooks the outdoor heated pool. A generous breakfast buffet with an omelet station, a salad station, and a professional full sized espresso machine guarantee a memorable breakfast. The only difficulty is deciding among all the wonderful choices. The dining room serves a dinner buffet, nightly. Check whether breakfast and dinner are included in your room rate. Often, one or both are included but this should be noted on the reservation. If it is not, you can add breakfast for approximately 20 USD and dinner for approximately 40 USD per person. There is also a lobby bar and dining options for light dairy meals all day long. A Scottish Bar rounds out the eating and drinking options at the Daniel. All food is Kosher.

A warm welcome

While there are many Dead Sea hotels to choose from, the Daniel is a favorite for its warm welcome, its excellent spa, comfortable rooms, and delicious food. The staff take their guests’ needs seriously, and service is top notch, in line with a hotel that is at the heart of the Dead Sea.
