When traveling or even just a normal day, it is hard to eat out with children if they are still very small and need a lot of special attention. HanaUta Café in Ishikawacho Yokohama is a great café for those who have children since it is only 3 minutes from the JR Ishikawacho station and also welcomes families with children with open arms. This café is also suitable for those who are pregnant as their food is carefully prepared so that pregnant women can eat comfortably. It is indeed a kind café for those who might need to take a little extra care with their diet.

Welcome to HanaUta café!

HanaUta café was established because the owner, who is a mother, wanted to eat and provide a lot of vegetables. Having vast knowledge and the vegetable sommelier certificate, the food provided at the café is healthy and tasty, and the owner gets most of the vegetables from farms in Miura and Yamagata where her families reside. Thus, HanaUta café’s specialities are a variety of side dishes, which are rich in nutrients from all the fresh vegetables you can get in each dish.

Because of the owner being a mother, this is a family friendly café where families with small children are welcomed. You can just stop by to have an afternoon tea or you can get a lunch plate to enjoy your lunch with your friends. If you happen to travel with small children, this is a café where you do not need to feel worried about making a mess or two as they are more understanding than other cafes. In addition, there are staff who understand English, so communication is much easier for English speakers.

Healthy yummy lunch at HanaUta Café

HanaUta Caféopens for lunch from 11:00am to 17:00pm and at night from 17:00pm to 1:00am. You are free to choose between the various side dishes that are displayed in the window, or you can also choose to have a lunch plate, which comes with three side dishes on a plate with a separate rice plate and soft drinks(if you want alcohol, you need to order separately). This lunch plate set is 1,315 JPY (11USD) and is a well-balanced meal for those who want a healthy lunch. Since this café welcomes everyone, including pregnant women, mothers, and small children, food is fresh and free of raw ingredients. If you happen to go there with a child, you can order kids drink refills, which come separately to adults’ drink refills. You can also choose to ask for extra rice for 100 JPY (0.8 USD) or a bagel for 250 JPY (2USD), so that your child can eat little bit from your plate, but have enough rich or even a bagel to keep them satisfied.

Book a private room for a group of 4 or more

If you happen to have a group of 4 or more, you can also book a private room on the second floor of the café. Since it is free of charge to book a private room, if you want to book it, you want to book in advance so that you can get it at the time of your need. The private room is children friendly, so the tables are low, which allows for small children to sit down or even stand to join the meal together with adults. You take off your shoes at the entrance of this room, so this is little different from the rest of the café where you keep your shoes on and sit down on a stool to dine. There is ample light entering from the large window so the atmosphere is great for families to get together. Of course, if you are a group of adults, you can still enjoy the space as it is very playful and welcoming.

Take a break in the kid-friendly environment

Certainly the most attractive thing about HanaUta Café is how welcoming the café is to families with children. The private room on the second floor is decorated with colorful ornaments and fun illustrations on the wall that make the adults happy as well as the kids. At the time of my visit, it was October, so the room was decorated with Halloween in mind. On top of the decorations, the room has toys and books for children, so if you want to enjoy your meal in peace, but your children are bored, they can play while you eat.

Enjoy a worry-free meal with your children

As a traveler, it is probably hard to find a place to eat if you are traveling with children or even with pets. Of course, more places are welcoming of children than having to dine with pets, but how welcoming are they really? At HanaUta café, the café is designed to host families with small children so there is even a small room for changing diapers. Of course, it is also a great café for those who want to eat healthy so everyone is welcome. The café is located within minutes from Ishikawacho station, so if you are exploring Yokohama near Ishikawacho, you might like to stop by at HanaUta café to enjoy a vegetable-rich and healthy meal.
