Offering terrific tours and river trips and located right alongside the scenic river, Sukau Greenview Bed and Breakfast is a fabulous spot for people who want to enjoy more of the area’s wonders. Nestled amongst beautiful scenery and in a fairly remote location, head off the grid for a while and marvel at the fascinating flora and fauna all around.

Need more convincing? Here’s why you should consider staying at Sukau Greenview Bed and Breakfast:

Choice of room types for different needs and expectations

There are various types of room available, including twin, double, and triple rooms. Rooms are arranged in small blocks throughout the leafy grounds.

Whilst many people visit as part of a package tour, with accommodation and tours paid for together, it is possible to book only the room and make your own way to the bed and breakfast. Prices are reasonable, with rooms costing between 95 MYR (approximately 22 USD) and 130 MYR (approximately 30 USD) per night. These are some of the lowest rates in the area.

Basic but comfortable rooms for a good night’s sleep

All rooms have a private bathroom with a hot water shower as well as both a fan and air conditioning. The rooms may be fairly small and basic, but, with so many fascinating things to do and see right on the doorstep, it is unlikely that you will be spending much time in your room other than when sleeping. The beds are comfy and clean and a cupboard gives you plenty of space to store your belongings out of the way.

Onsite restaurant with awesome river views

The restaurant sits right alongside the river. Indeed, you couldn’t get any closer to the water unless you were in a boat … or fell in! The views are terrific and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Just make sure that you slap on plenty of mosquito repellent, during the day as well as in the evening, because they can be quite ferocious!

A free basic self-service breakfast is provided each morning, with hot drinks, water, bread, cereals, noodles, and pancakes. Free tea and coffee is also available throughout the day.

The secluded location of the accommodation means that there are no viable alternatives for other meals. Luckily, the food served at Sukau Greenview Bed and Breakfast’s restaurant is tasty and filling. Cooking staff are amenable to preparing food suitable for different dietary requirements, such as vegetarians. The garlic fried rice is bursting with flavour and highly recommended.

Other features and facilities to help you unwind

If you are feeling active, you can hit the jogging track, enjoying an invigorating run whilst surrounded by glorious nature. Of course, you could also take it easy and go for a walk.

There is a small communal seating area in front of the lobby building and the property has a small library with a selection of reading materials for guests’ entertainment. The remote location means that Wi-Fi is not available but with so many exciting activities around, this is probably something of a blessing!

The onsite tour agency makes arranging trips and transportation (if visiting independently) incredibly easy and hassle free.

Wide selection of tours and fantastic experiences

Boat trips along the muddy-brown waters of Lake Kinabatangan are the main reason for most people choosing to visit this area. An abundance of creatures live in the trees and in the water, and boat trips at different times of the day and night seek to maximize your chances of seeing as much wildlife as possible. Whilst sightings can never be guaranteed, you are almost certain to see a good selection of exciting local flora and fauna.

Imagine soaking up the views and squinting into the trees to suddenly come across a herd of Borneo pygmy elephants bathing in the shallow water’s edge. Or seeing curious-looking long-nosed proboscis monkeys in the foliage. Or even a mighty orang utan swinging through the trees, its muscles rippling as it makes it look effortless. Macaque monkeys are omnipresent, and other creatures that live in the jungle and water include flying foxes, tarsiers, crocodiles, monitor lizards, crocodiles, bats, hornbills, owls, eagles, and snakes.

The wet and humid environment means that you may very well end up with an unwelcome passenger tagging along for a while – leeches are quite usual here. If you do find a leech attached to you, do NOT try and pull it off. Whilst you can, if your nerves can handle it, wait for it to finish feeding and drop off by its own accord, a quick blast of heat from a lighter will also make it fall off.

You can also arrange tours to other places, such as Danau and Sepilok, as well as guided walking tours through the rainforest.

Help the local community whilst enjoying the environment

Managed exclusively by people from the local area, this not only means that you can benefit from expert guidance and knowledge but also that your visit directly benefits and provides an income for people who have lived here all of their lives. Heavily involved in various conservation and education projects, members of staff really care about the environment and local wildlife. Experience some of Sabah’s wonderful ecological jewels whilst being socially responsible with a stay at Sukau Greenview Bed and Breakfast.
