From the moment guests walk into the opulent lobby of El Palace Hotel, they are instantly transported to a bygone era of luxury hotels. The 1920’s building was renovated in 2009 to resemble the classic palace that would spoil guests with over-the-top luxuries in its heyday. Today, guests can experience similar luxuries with a modern twist in that same classic environment.

Old world rooms

Each of El Palace’s 125 guest rooms have been renovated with an eye for antique details, albeit with modern amenities. Room options range from Classic Deluxe to the over the top Salvador Dalí Suite. All rooms include of Gran Via, magic mirror TVs, rain shower systems, and L’Occitane toiletries. As the rooms move up the luxury scale, both the size and spoils increase, like the addition of an original 1920s fireplace. For a truly unique stay, splurge for the Salvador Dalí Suite. The Salvador Dalí suite includes a Roman-style bathroom, nineteenth-century desks and chairs, unique fabrics made from seventeenth-century Italian damask patterns, and nineteenth and early twentieth-century Italian and French mirrors to name a few.

A serene rooftop garden

On top of El Palace Hotel is the lush Diana Garden. The garden’s design was inspired by the chromatic hues and atmospheres of a Ramón Casas’ painting to resemble an open-air interior. From the garden, guests can enjoy views of Barcelona’s most famous buildings – including a telescope to spy on progress at La Sagrada Familia. There are plenty of lily ponds, a swimming pool, and floral walks to stimulate the senses. The kitchen also uses the garden to grow vegetables, spices, and exotic fruits.

Speaking of food, El Palace Hotel houses a one Michelin star restaurant, Caelis. Caelis cuisine is anything but old world. Chef Romain Fornell – the first chef to earn a Micheline star in both France and Spain – designs haute cuisine dishes pulling from Mediterranean flavors. For guests who don’t have the time for a multi-course dinner, 19/Nineteen Restaurant is another onsite option. End your evening with a nightcap and live jazz at Blueman Cocktail Bar, one of Barcelona’s trendiest jazz bars.

Ancient healing at the Spa

El Palace Hotel’s Mayan Luxury Spa is Spain’s only temazcal (ancient Aztec steam bath ritual). The spa’s Mayan treatments are accentuated with products from Anne Semonin’s line of luxury cosmetics. A highlight of the award-winning spa is the pre-Hispanic sauna, where volcanic stones are heated, and medicinal water is poured on them to release a healing steam. For a unique experience, opt for the Mayan Rebirth Ritual 40. It’s a sensory experience that will purify your mind, body, and soul.

Perry Tours

Hello! My name is Perry, originally from the heart of Belgium, famed for its waffles and fries. However, it wasn't just the call of the Spanish sun that brought to Barcelona, but rather a captivating encounter with a German-Uruguayan beauty in Thailand. This led to the birth of our son in Ibiza, and eventually, more than two decades ago, I found myself in the vibrant city of Barcelona. My passion for meeting people from different nationalities and cultures, coupled with an insatiable appetite for adventure, has empowered me to transform ordinary days into extraordinary stories. In 2020, I embarked on a new journey by starting my own sightseeing company, showcasing the wonders of Barcelona to people from all over the world. With nine years of guiding experience in this magnificent city, I am thrilled to share its beauty and hidden gems with you.

Central location

Lastly, the hotel is centrally located in the convenient Eixample district. The prestigious shops and boutiques of Las Ramblas are only a few blocks from the hotel’s doorsteps, as is Barcelona’s Paseo de Gracia. A great downtown location close to Paseo de Gracia and Las Ramblas. If you wish to explore beyond the hotel’s neighborhood, there are several metro stops and bus stops within a few blocks. El Palace Hotel also has a Mercedes-Benz car service to chauffeur guests around town.
