Tawanna Resort is a friendly and easy-to-access accommodation option in Thailand’s province of Nakhon Sawan. Sitting alongside the Asia Highway (AH1), the resort is easy to spot when travelling by road, yet the rooms are set far enough away from the road that the faint hum of traffic shouldn’t interfere with your sleep.

Nakhon Sawan is home to some great local attractions to suit diverse interests, all of which are within easy reach of the conveniently-situated Tawanna Resort.

Colourful bungalows set in pretty grounds

As well as the more regular style of wooden bungalows, as are fairly common around Thailand, Tawanna Resort also has small concrete bungalows that are painted outside in vibrant and eye-catching colours. The hues of red, pink, green, lilac, blue, yellow, and orange seem to both stand out against the gardens and yet also fit right in and seem totally in place.

The beautiful gardens, complete with interesting statues, outdoor seating, and an abundance of flowers, make you feel a lot further away from the main road than you actually are. It’s like a small slice of nature just a stone’s throw from the Asia Highway.

Small but comfortable and attractive rooms

Each private bungalow has one main room, serving the purpose of being a bedroom and a living room in one, along with a bathroom. Bathrooms feature nice tiling and have hot water showers behind a half-dividing wall. A panel of frosted glass between the bathroom and the bedroom allows more light into the bathroom, and a large wall mirror in the bedroom creates the illusion of more space. A large window and patio door keep the rooms well-ventilated and give you plenty of light when you’re getting ready for the day.

Rooms are painted inside with both bright and muted colours, with huge blocks of contrasting shades creating a beautiful space for sleeping. Expect yellow matched with teal, lilac paired with deep purple, and soft orange alongside black. Modern pictures hang from the walls, and bed linen with quirky cartoon-like images adds to the visual appeal.

Other amenities include remote-controlled air-conditioning, a refrigerator, a flat-screen colour television, and a table with chairs. Free drinking water is also included in the room rate.

Most rooms have either one double bed or two single beds. These cost around 500 THB (approximately 14.20 USD) per night. Rooms for three guests are also available, with one double bed and one single bed. You are advised to check with the property for their prices for triple rooms.

Step out of your door and you’ll find yourself on a small private patio, complete with leafy potted plants and outdoor seating. This is a nice place to sit and unwind with a drink before bed. The resort is designed so that the backs of the bungalows are alongside the track, allowing you to sit outside with some degree of privacy.

Large onsite restaurant with extensive menu

Tawanna Resort has a large restaurant, which is also popular with people driving past and popping in for refreshments. Open-sided, you can look upon the nice gardens as you eat. The restaurant serves a wide assortment of Thai dishes, such as som tam (spicy papaya salad), tom yam (hot and sour soup), rice dishes, and noodle dishes.

The restaurant has a welcoming and friendly vibe, and you may be tempted to sit and enjoy a few drinks in the sociable atmosphere before retiring to your bungalow for the night. You can buy an assortment of alcoholic and soft drinks to take back to your bungalow if you wish.
