Although the Isle of Wight is just six miles (9.6 kilometers) off the shores of mainland England, it can seem a world apart in terms of scenery, culture and pace of life. England’s largest island has been a popular seaside holiday destination since the Victorian era, and it offers beautiful coastal scenery, gentle rural charms as well as urban conveniences amid its handful of small towns. There are many things to do here, too. Known among pop culture fans for its annual Isle of Wight music festival, the island has plenty of farms, huts and campsites, offering great amenities for an ideal glamping vacation. So read on to discover 10 of the best spots for glamping in Isle of Wight!

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) host status, recent guest reviews, prices, availability of dates, decor, and a location that facilitates glamping or is close to glamping spots. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on April 07, 2024.

1. Superb eco-pod on private farm (from USD 154)

Most of the Isle of Wight’s rural areas lie on the western and southern parts of the island, and those are where you will find plenty of natural attractions and coastal scenery. The most famous of them is The Needles, a row of three stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western end of the island, with a lighthouse right at the outer tip. This landmark is also close to Alum Bay, a gorgeous area with many different colors of sand which appear naturally on the beach. This superb eco-pod is located in a private farm, about a 15-minute drive away from the attractions, and it contains amenities such as a double bed, a kitchenette, a fridge, a shower and a dining table. You also have access to the farm, its on-site restaurant and the farm animals.

8. Tranquil yurt with hammock

The southeastern part of the Isle of Wight contains natural attractions such as the Shanklin Chine, a beautiful tree-lined gorge near the village of Shanklin that was first paved for public appreciation way back in 1817. You can also visit the Steephill Cove at the town of Ventnor, which has a famous seafood restaurant with a fresh, daily catch on its menu. There are also lovely beaches along the coast to enjoy the mild weather. These areas are easily accessible by car or bicycle, even if you are based in a remote but tranquil yurt such as this one near Wootton Bridge. Along with two beds and a camp kitchen, the host has also provided a hammock for your relaxation needs.

9. Vintage caravan with retro charm

The running joke among mainland Britons is that the Isle of Wight and its residents are stuck in time – somewhere around the 1950s. Nonetheless, the island has often traded on such “retro” vibes, offering nostalgia by the dollops. This accommodation is one such example, a vintage caravan which the host proudly labels as “lo-fi”. The interior decor is decidedly dowdy, with a small gas cooker and fridge, and there is neither wifi, a TV nor hot water (shower/toilet facilities are nearby). Yet, there is a certain charm amid this creaky-looking trailer which may appeal to travelers, especially in this laid-back isle.

10. Cozy yurt with great sunrise views

Rock music fans will associate the Isle of Wight with its music festival, which was first held from 1968 to 1970, and featured legends such as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane. It was then revived in 2002 and is nowadays held annually in Seaclose Park in Newport, the island’s main shopping town. Many festival-goers opt for camping or glamping accommodations near the park, and this cozy yurt is one such option. Besides comfy beds, there are coffee/tea-making machines, a toaster and a fridge in the lodging. Best of all, the yurt overlooks a wide expanse, so you can enjoy great sunrise views just outside the yurt. It’s one of the best places to go glamping on the Isle of Wight!
