Unazuki Onsen Station has a hot spring fountain

With the opening of Hokuriku Shinkansen, the access from Kanto region to Unazuki Onsen became very easy. The name “Unazuki” contains the kanji characters of Uji (near Kyoto) and Nara, signifying that the full moon seen here is just as beautiful as from those places.

A hot spring to relax in and detoxify your body

Hotel Togen is located just a few minutes away from Unazuki Onsen Station. Everything here is simply great – the food, the hot spring, the view. Let me first introduce the hot spring. Delicious seafood from Toyama Bay

Warm surface currents and cold deeper water currents meet in Toyama Bay which creates a natural fish tank with over 500 different species of sea life. It’s often called Japan’s seafood treasure.

The menu at Hotel Togen consists of freshly caught firefly squid boiled with vegetables, Toyama Bay’s gem – the white shrimp – and many other delicious seafood and mountain blessings. The dishes change according to the season – in winter the specialty is amberjack and snow crab, while in spring it’s the famous firefly squids.

From the Japanese-style room you can enjoy the relaxing aroma of the soft rush growing just outside the hotel. There is a sofa on the balcony from which you can watch Kurobe River and chat with friends after lunch. In fact, you can watch the natural surroundings from any room in this hotel, and that’s its greatest asset. The emerald-green Kurobe River changes its color throughout the day: in the morning it’s fresh blue, while in the afternoon it turns deeper shade of green. The changes depend on the weather and the season.

Kurobe Gorge Torokko Railway

The most famous attraction of Kurobe Gorge is the Torokko Railway train which runs for about 20 kilometers from Unazuki to Keiyakidaira. This gorge is known as one of Japan’s three best gorges. It’s also included in the list of Japan’s best 100 secluded regions. The sightseeing train winds along the mountain slopes and crosses bridges over the river. This exciting journey begins from Unazuki Station which is just a few minutes away from Hotel Togen.
