For decades, the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta has attracted worldwide and local visitors for its abundant business opportunities and world class entertainment. More than that, especially for international tourists, Jakarta is a transit city to other places within Indonesia, as most places in the country can only be reached by a direct flight from Jakarta.

Being the biggest city in Indonesia, Jakarta is notoriously famous for her traffic jams and it can take hours to travel even a few kilometers during rush hours. For that reason, the location of your accommodation is crucial and Grand Hyatt Hotel could be your best choice. It is a five-star hotel adjacent to one of the biggest malls in Jakarta and close to some of the local attractions. You will also find some nice restaurants around the hotel area.

More than just a five-star hotel

So, this is one of the best hotels in Jakarta located in one of the most elite locations in the city. What are the remarkable elements in the hotel? Well, like other five star hotels, it provides better facilities and services compared to a three or four-star hotel (e.g. bigger rooms with carpeted floors and sparkling bathroom, a swimming pool with sauna and a fitness center, fine restaurants etc.). However, there is a combination of several excellent factors that make Grand Hyatt simply the best among the best of hotels in Jakarta.

Strategic location

The 26-floor Grand Hyatt Hotel is located at the elite district of Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (literally translated as Hotel Indonesia Roundabout), a district where Jakarta’s finest hotels (Hotel Indonesia, Mandarin Oriental and of course, Grand Hyatt Hotel) are located. In this location, you can reach sites like the National Museum (for those interested in Indonesia’s history), Orangutan Odysseys (the conservation park of orangutan), and Cathedral Jakarta (the oldest church in Jakarta) in less than ten minutes by taxi. It is also located next to Monumen Selamat Datang (Welcome Monument), a monument that has two statues of young Jakartans waving their hands to welcome visitors.

Magnificent city view from your room

The view you can enjoy from your room is one of the best in the city. All of the hotel’s 427 total rooms provide their guests with a city view. This is the hotel in Jakarta that gives you the best view of the city’s skyscrapers.

Certainly, there are a few other five-star hotels in the area but this is the only hotel where you can get the best view of the city icon, the Welcome Monument. While from other hotels you can see the monument from a certain angle (back or side view), from a Grand Hyatt’s standard room (it is the room where most people stay), you can see the monument from a front angle, where you can see the faces of the statues.

Having meals at Sumire Japanese restaurant

As a five-star hotel, Grand Hyatt is the house of several fine restaurants. Go to Grand Cafe for Indonesian foods (featuring satay, the skewered barbecued chicken or pork with sweet peanut sauce) and C’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant for a seafood and steak buffet (the seafood is known for its freshness and the beef is imported from Australia and the United States).

If you like Japanese food, go to the hotel’s Japanese restaurant named Sumire. Like most Japanese restaurants, it has assorted sushi (rolls, sashimi and nigiri), noodles (ramen and udon) and different kinds of bento dishes (combination of salad, cooked food, rice, soup etc.) on its menu. Try their Unagi Kabayaki bento set. Unagi is Japanese eel fillet (Japanese eels are more meaty than regular eels) and cooked in teriyaki sauce. It comes with rice, wakame (sweet seaweed salad) and iced green tea.

Besides all of that, Sumire features the Teppanyaki, which means food cooked on flat grills, usually prepared in front of customers. The seafood and beef are very fresh (you can tell from the smooth texture of the seafood and the beef’s red color). See how the chefs professionally cook while entertaining the guests by with their acrobatic moves such as throwing the spatula in the air (no knife throwing, it’s dangerous).

Access to Plaza Indonesia

Another amenity that other hotels in the districts don’t have is the direct access to a shopping mall. In the lobby of Grand Hyatt Jakarta, you will find an escalator that will take you to the ground level of Plaza Indonesia. You don’t need to walk far to a movie theater, shops or dining places because all you need is here!

It's worth it

Rooms here are priced from 300 USD/night for the standard room to 600 USD/night for the suite. Being one of Jakarta’s best hotels that is adjacent to a shopping center and so close to several attractions, the price is definitely reasonable!. Since you don’t need to go far for food and entertainment, you can actually save much of your valuable time and transportation costs. Hence, a stay in Grand Hyatt is really worth the hotel’s facilities and convenient location.
