Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the United States, so you can bet that there are a number of events and activities that await locals and visitors alike, come Halloween. With Hollywood in the area, you can bet that the costumes are eye-popping and are sights to behold, and can qualify as attractions themselves. Horror theme parks are a Halloween staple, with even the big amusement parks like Universal Studios, Six Flags, and Knott’s Berry Farm getting in on the action. Of course, there’s also the Haunted Mansion, Disneyland’s staple. Zoos and parks also get in on the action, and Los Angeles Haunted Hayride of Griffith Park Zoo is a perennial favorite for those who want to scare themselves silly. This season also sees tours offering ghost hunting and exploration of haunted houses popping up left and right. For more family-friendly - and less scary - offerings, Halloween parties, costume balls, and parades are a dime a dozen. There are also horror-themed theatrical performances and film screenings offered during the season if you prefer watching instead of taking part in the action. Still can’t figure out what to do while in the city? Check out this list if you need help in thinking about how you’re going to spend Halloween in Los Angeles.

2. Wine tasting at a vampire-themed vineyard (from USD 25.0)

If you’ve ever fancied yourself to be a creature of the night, this activity is a must-try. Channel your inner child of the darkness in this vampire-themed venue, but instead of sucking blood, you will be sipping on a variety of wines instead. Vampire Vineyards is so named because its history can be traced to Transylvania, although its current vineyards are now based in Napa. Even so, the owners have embraced its past, as can be seen in the Gothic-style decorations and the vampire-themed drinks. A variety of cheeses and meats can be enjoyed while sampling the wines. Cakes, coffee, and tea are available as well. Entertainment is offered in the venue. Depending on what night you go there, you may catch a DJ spinning some tunes, bands rocking the house, or magicians pulling rabbits out of hats, or some other tricks to awe and amaze guests.
