Oh the joys of sightseeing: seeing one impressive spot after another and snapping away with your camera of each and every angle. However, there does become a point when your legs are hurting and your hands can no longer hold up the camera to take a photograph and the thought of a selfie sounds ridiculous — all because what you really want to do is sit down and relax for a bit. Well, how about if I told you that you could enjoy a leisurely sightseeing experience whilst gliding down the River Seine and dining during a delectable cruise? Tempted? Of course you are. The Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise is an immensely enjoyable experience that will allow you to discover the full splendour of the river banks with their surrounding structures in their entire glory. The Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise offers a lunchtime or dinnertime experience.

All aboard at de Port de Solferino

The Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise is offered in a gorgeous glass-enclosed boat and will give you unobstructed views of Paris’ waterfront sights. This means that you will enjoy spectacular views and have the opportunity to take some really brilliant pictures in comfort. The cruise is very smart and stylish and the ride will be incredibly smooth.

On board you can have a three course meal whether it be at lunch or dinner time and the duration of the experience lasts between 75 minutes to 2 hours. To board the cruise, you need to go to Port de Solferino, Paris, which is directly in front of the Musee d ‘Orsay. If you don’t see the boat, don’t worry as it may not have docked yet, so just wait by the steps and it will pull up. With all the excitement, you may find a few passengers pushing to get into the cruise first; however, don’t worry as all tables are pre-assigned and everyone will be able to have a view of the beautiful sights of the city.

Once seated at your table, you will be offered a drink and given a booklet that denotes the sites and order in which you will see them. The sites are not announced, so you need to be on the lookout for them. I actually prefer this as it does not feel like the focus of one’s experience is a tourist sightseeing boat but rather a delectable dining experience where you can relax and enjoy the sights of the city, with an indication of what is what and where.

Artistically displayed food and heavenly desserts

At the point of booking this popular cruise, you will be shown a sample menu that resembles what could be served during your experience. The Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise caters exceptionally for those with dietary requirements such as vegetarians. Surprisingly, one of my favourite meals whilst I was in Paris was on this chic and seamless cruise. I think you will especially appreciate the artistically displayed food that is to be enjoyed with the backdrop of the amazing architectural sites of Paris, whether in the daytime or at night. The food is delicious and the portions are much larger than expected so don’t be doing any snacking in advance.

Each course is terrific and the option of an assortment of desserts as a finale is simply fabulous. For dessert, I opted for the assortment of desserts option and had the following amazing items: chocolate cream, caramelised biscuit crunch and fresh banana; a salted butter caramel macaron and seasonal fruit; mini shortbread with orange meringue cream; and verrine of chestnut cream and vanilla mousse with hazelnut flakes. My mouth is watering whilst sharing the details with you and I can guarantee that your appetite will be satisfied on the Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise.

The wait staff are personable and accommodating. The wine and champagne is also wonderful. You will feel blissful eating the exquisite items and viewing the sights whilst different musical choices are played throughout your journey. For music fans, you will love the fact that the musical selections being played correspond to the area that you are going by and allow music and architecture to tell you a story together. This creates a really lovely and comfortable ambiance.

Major sights and beautiful bridges in the vicinity

As you can see from the photograph, on a sunny day, you can see the most amazing views of Paris by water. This includes seeing the Eiffel Tower, Paris’ miniature Statue of Liberty and Notre Dame Cathedral. During the Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise, you will sail under a number of Paris’ thirty-two bridges, some which are incredibly impressive like the Pont Alexandre III, which is my favourite.

The Pont Alexandre III bridge connects the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais on the right hand with the Hotel des Invalides on the left bank. This bridge was named after Tsar Alexander III to commemorate the Franco-Russian Alliance that was signed in 1892. Whilst you can see this bridge from many angles by foot, I think the best way in which to enjoy and experience it is via the water where you can actually sail under it and appreciate it in far more detail.

Having enjoyed the Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise in the daytime and the nighttime, I would recommend enjoying it during the daytime as the backdrop of the beautiful blue sky with all of Paris’ architectural gems on the waterfront can be fully embraced. The details of some of the buildings and the bridges can only really be appreciated when you can see them clearly and this is during the daytime. Whilst Paris is known as the city of lights and if you take the night cruise, you will be able to see the Eiffel Tower’s hourly lights ceremony, I think it is best to see this by bus such as with Bustronome or by foot.

The best sight has to be the River Seine itself

I would thoroughly recommend that you book a place on the gorgeous Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise as the service, food and sights definitely exceed expectations. The best sight, in my view, however, is the River Seine itself as you can see so many sights from it whilst floating along and enjoying a memorable experience. The cost per person varies according to whether your would like to enjoy the cruise at lunchtime or dinnertime and the type of package that you would like (more information on its website). The starting price for an adult is 41 EUR (43 USD) and for a child it is 35 EUR (37 USD), which includes food, subtle sightseeing, music and a special ambiance.
