The room types vary from the 104 square meter suite room to the 29sqm modern twin room, so choose out of the 10 types based on how many people you are with or by what you feel like. Pictured above is the Modern Twin Room. At 29sqm it is a bit compact for a resort twin room, but it has a sunlit desk and sofa making a stay here pretty cozy. There are 2 rooms you can choose from if traveling with your dog, for those of us who can’t leave such an important member of the family at home.
Sooth yourself in the pool or the onsen! Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel
The onsen at the Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel, Akamine no Yu uses the hot spring water pumped up from the base of Bandaisan. The hot spring water is a sodium chloride spring that not only is said to have high body warming properties it is also said to beautify the skin. Warm your body and spirit at the foot of Bandaisan, the long worshiped mountain.
The pool on the same B1 floor as the onsen, is a perfect place to relieve your fatigue. The pool is warmed so you can enjoy it year round and with its mostly white color combo it feels a lot like a resort. Because the pool is 20x7 meters you can swim or walk in it as you please. Afterwards jump in the hot tub to loosen up those muscles. There is also a warming room where you can cool down or warm up depending on what you just did allowing you to really melt that stress away.
The hospitality of the food master at the Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel
After lounging around in the room and relaxing at the pool the next thing to enjoy is the food!! The concept of the main dining room Kisse-Kisse is “enjoy food on the forest terrace”. The pride of Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel is 50 refined dishes in a buffet. At the live kitchen where they cook in front of you the food masters flex their skills to the fullest.
Pictured above is the master of Bandai Sarashina Soba. This soba master kneads, cuts, and cooks the soba in front of you. It is an awesome show. This is by far the best way to eat soba called Santate Soba. Once the soba is boiled it is immediately cooled in cold spring water, firming up the noodles and bringing out even more flavor. During dinner he performs this show many times so you can always taste this dish the way it was meant to be.
There are other appealing kitchen studios. The steak master and his steak that you can have with a choice of 2 sauces, the dessert master who makes a sweet treat as soon as he gets your order is the icing on the cake so to speak! The warm hospitality of being able to see the face of the person cooking your food is simply fantastic.
With good food is good booze!
You definitely have to have the local Jizake with this food. The Aizu area has some delicious rice, and paired with the underground water from Bandaisan it makes for some of the most spectacular Sakes. Among the many sake brewers on sake is really one we recommend, it is the Daiginjoshu Eishoro. It is brewed at the Eisen Shuzo brewery close to the Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel on the Bandaisan Gold Line Road. It has earned the gold medal in the Monde Selection 7 years in a row. It has a fruity aroma yet a refreshing taste with a mellow undertone it really makes the food come alive.
If you are a wine lover have some of the pictured red wine. It is fermented and aged in their own winery barrels with grapes from the Takeda Winery in Kamiyama City, Yamagata Prefecture. Enjoy every bit of the deep flavors this wine has.
Have breakfast ramen at the Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel
After a satisfying night, waking up well rested you start to get hungry again. For breakfast there is omelet, or the colorful local veggie dishes in the buffet. We recommend the Kitakata Ramen. Some of you may think “ramen for breakfast?” but around here in the Aizu area where this ramen is from, this is common practice. If you haven’t before try having ramen for breakfast here at Hoshino Resort Bandaisan Onsen Hotel. As pictured it is self-serve so you choose how long to boil the noodles, add the soup and your choice of toppings, to complete your breakfast ramen. This is one dish we highly recommend to everyone but to noodle lovers especially.
