In a tiny street corner of the small town of Mostar, you will find a charming hostel with such colourful and cute interior designs that can hardly be found elsewhere in Europe. Enjoy the beauty of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by staying at Hostel Mirror and enjoy these top following things guests love about the hostel:

Green outdoor common space

The outdoor common space, surrounded with greenery and a calm atmosphere, is a great place to enjoy your meals or even work. Here you will also find the bus schedule from Mostar to many popular surrounding cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania. The temperature in the common space is a bit cooler, making it an ideal location to chill after a long hot summer day exploring the town.

Colourful and charming interior design

One of the most impressive features you can see from Hostel Mirror even before your arrival is its charming interior shining on photos you can find on their marketing material. Dorm walls are painted with vivid and warm colours, making the atmosphere extra cosy. You will also find some little dried flowers on the bed, bringing the vintage feel and making the atmosphere smell great, just like lavender.

Dorms with modern facilities

As Hostel Mirror is quite new (founded in 2015), the building and dorms are equipped with modern facilities, including an excellent bathroom, and rooms with flat-screen television, air-conditioning and private lockers. A Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the building and inside dorm rooms. Free towels and linens are included in the price of approximately 16 BAM (9.20 USD) per dorm bed per night during the low season (outside the summer months of June to August).

Nice add-on breakfast and kitchen for use without charge

The kitchen is right at your doorstep, so you may buy food from the grocery stores and cook at your accommodation if you like. Keep in mind that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cuisine has many meat dishes, so it can be tricky to find vegetarian or vegan restaurants around. Tap water is drinkable so there’s no need to waste money on non-reusable plastic water bottles. Every morning there’s a free breakfast for all guests, made by the family. For my breakfast at 9 AM (as I asked them), I had tea, bread with jam, and fried eggs, which I enjoyed a lot.

Cosy atmosphere of a family-run business

Hostel Mirror is not run by any commercial corporation, but by the family of the owner and his parents. Don’t be surprised that, upon arrival, you will be welcomed with coffee or juice and some slices of cakes or snacks made by the family. Make yourself at home here and ask for anything you need from the owner family that lives right upstairs. There’s no reception desk so you will feel like you have more freedom in the common area as well as in your own room.

Great added services

great added services

One of the best things about my stay in Mostar was the short trip to Blagaj I took, arranged by the hostel. They will arrange a car plus driver to pick you up at the time of your choice and take you around Blagaj for 1 to 2 hours in total. This is one of the most beautiful attractions near Mostar that you must visit, and public transport connections between these two towns can be difficult to find, although there are public buses going there. I found the trip very convenient and affordable, as it only cost each of the trip participants 14 BAM (8 USD) for the round-trip.

Great location

From Hostel Mirror, take a short walk for about 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) and you will reach the old town, where you will find the famous Old Bridge of Mostar. This is a remarkable must-see in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not only because of its historical beauty but the touching story behind it about the war that happened in the country a few decades ago.

Visit Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is an off-the-beaten-path destination with lots of beautiful sights to offer besides Mostar. Sarajevo, Jajice, Travnik, and Kravice are a few stunning highlights you should not miss. It’s one of the cheapest countries in the region, as well as in Europe in general, to travel. Book your stay at Hostel Mirror to enjoy Mostar and beyond!
