Hotel Foresta Nasu-Shiobara Where Your Pet Is the Main Guest of Honor

The local domestic pet of Hotel Foresta welcomes all dog lovers!

Hotel Foresta Nasu-Shiobara is located in Tochigi prefecture’s Kami-Shiobara district, on a mountain ski slope which is part of Mt Keichozan and Mt Nikko. As its name suggests, the hotel is surrounded by forests. In this place you can stay together with your dog or cat in the same room! Dog lovers often make their meetings here. 



The modern Japanese-style rooms are covered with carpets and there are wide balconies on the second and third-floor rooms where your pet can play freely.

The local pet Gaku-kun welcomes the guest at check-in. You’ll receive an original bag for walking out the dog and even some pet cookies! Please show the immunization certificate during check-in.

The dog can stay in the room with you!

The modern Japanese-style room is decorated with relaxing colors for a pleasant stay. Your dog can sleep in the bed with you. If it’s a small puppy it can freely run and play on the wide balcony.



This hotel has a freely-flowing hot spring, part of Shiobara Onsen, which has a very positive effect on the skin and will relax your entire body. This is the newest and the most secluded of Shiobara’s 11 hot springs. The water is slightly salty and good for treating rheumatism and chronic skin diseases. You can also try the open-air bath where you’ll enjoy the starry sky surrounded by the forest.

The pets can freely go everywhere besides the hot spring.

A luxurious dinner for your dog!

The chef of the hotel restaurant will prepare healthy and luxurious meals for your dog. For dinner your pet will be served “Pork ragout with sweet potato gnocchi”, which consists of pork meat, sweet potatoes, Italian carrots and a carrot sauce. For breakfast the dog will get “Chicken and a puree of 5 types of beans and carrots”, which has chicken meat, pumpkin, carrots and beans with a sauce. Your dog will love the menu!



For the guests the Italian menu includes pasta, special gnocchi with top-class Parmesan cheese and delicious poele with beef and red wine sauce. You can get desserts together with your dog from the lounge. 



On the photo you can see an example of the dog meal. You need a prior reservation for the dog meal and it costs an additional fee. Tell the staff about your dog’s weight, health condition and food allergies when you make a reservation.

The rooms are fully equipped with amenities for dogs!

There are plenty of amenities for the dogs in every room: a cage, containers for peeing, plastic bags for excrements, anti-bacteria sprays which are not harmful to pets. 



From the lobby you can get a bottle of non-toxic premium water for both you and your dog. There’s even an oxygen capsule for relieving the long-trip stress of the pet (additional fee applies, can be used for mid-size dogs too).

Enjoy a relaxing time with your dog in the lounge near the fireplace

Come to the lounge after dinner and enjoy a dessert, coffee or tea while watching the fireplace together with your dog. You can also join the groups of dog lovers on a walk under the stars. In the mornings eat breakfast while enjoying the view of Mt Nikko and Mt Keichozan outside.

The area around Hotel Foresta is a famous sakura cherry blossoms spot so in spring everything turns into splendid pink colors.

Advices for travelling with dogs: Be sure to take with you dog food, water, leash with a card with the owner’s contact details, old newspapers (to put on the car seats), pet sheets, the toys that your dog likes to play with (this is very important as those toys will relax your pet), and a cage which is just as big as to allow changing positions. Too big cages are not very safe.
