Grass Valley is a city in Northern California, located in Nevada County. It’s about 57 miles (92 km) north of Sacramento and was home to two of the richest mines in the state. Head to Marshall’s Pasties to try a true Cornish pasty. When you’ve had your fill of pasties, stop by the North Star Mining Museum. There, you can learn about the area’s mining history, and view historic mining equipment. When you need to stretch your legs, spend some time in the Empire Mine State Historic Park. The mine on site is maintained as a historic site, and there is a museum to tour. There are also plenty of trails to explore, so you can go for a pleasant hike or take a bike ride.
