Utica is the 10th most populous city in New York and the seat of Oneida County. Originally, the area was a settlement for Mohawk tribes until the revolutionary war broke out. Whereupon, many European-Americans decided to settle in the area. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the city underwent a period of prosperity due to its manufacturing centers for the textiles industry. Unfortunately, afterwards the city went into decline due to globalization. Many textile mills closed down. Thereafter, the city got the monickers “Sin City” and the “City that god forgot”.
