Urban Light, created in 2008, is a large-scale assemblage sculpture by Chris Burden located at the Wilshire Boulevard entrance, next to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The installation consists of 202 restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s. Most of them once lit the streets of Southern California. There are 16 different streetlight models represented, many of which were commissioned for particular neighbourhoods and streets. The Broadway Rose, the largest and most ornate of the models, is represented by six lamps. Today, Urban Light has become an extremely popular attraction, not just as a gateway to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, but also as a picturesque Instagram spot in its own right. According to Public Art in Public Places, Urban Light has become the most visited, photographed and well-known public artwork in Southern California.
