Mongolia has opened its tourism window to the world in the recent years, and has attracted travelers who are keen to explore the birthplace of the great Genghis Khan, and also the magnificent Gobi Desert. Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia in Central Asia. The Chinggis Khaan International Airport brings in thousands of travelers every day, and Ulaanbaatar is usually the starting point of an exploration around the country.
Ulaanbaatar does not offer a great variety of tourist attractions, but you should spend at least one night there to experience the culture of the Mongolians in the city, which is different from other parts of the country. For a short visit, staying in a hotel that is convenient allows you the ability to explore all the key attractions within a day. Located in the heart of downtown is the Kaiser Hotel, which is located minutes away from the action in this city.
Swift check-in and helpful service!
A short 15 km (9.3 miles) drive from the international airport will get you to Kaiser Hotel within minutes. The hotel started its operations in 2009, and while the exterior of the hotel may look slightly tired, the guest rooms are overall new and bright. The check in process is swift, and the hotel staff all speak and understand basic English. Whilst there is no elevator in the hotel, the hotel has a very helpful porter, or the check-in staff will assist you with your luggage up the staircases. Upon check out, you can call them and they will come to your room to assist you in carrying your luggage down too.
An affordable rate without compromising your comfort
Room rates start from 45 USD per night, and come with a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast spread is rather limited, but it is sufficient to get your morning started, especially with a cup of hot coffee. The rooms are simple but fulfill the basic requirements of providing clean bed sheets and towels. The TV channels are limited, but after walking around the city for a day, the bed is probably more important! Beds and pillows are both comfortable, without being too soft or too hard. For the rate that you are paying, the Kaiser Hotel is definitely a great choice!
Plenty of food choices along the street, or opt for a cup of noodles in the room!
There are plenty of restaurants outside the hotel, along the main street, serving both western and local cuisines. The local dishes consist mainly of mutton, and you should try the traditionally-prepared mutton cuisines. Mongolia seems to be influenced by the Korean waves too, as there are several shops selling Korean snacks and cups of noodles. If none of the restaurants is to your liking, you can always buy a cup of noodles to prepare in the room. The room comes with a hot electric kettle, so you can boil your water conveniently. Each room also comes with a simple wardrobe and a full-length mirror, which is very useful for taking a quick glimpse at your OOTD (Outfit of The Day)!
In the heart of the city
The Kaiser Hotel is strategically located near the heart of downtown Ulaanbaatar where the main attractions, restaurants, and shopping malls are. In less than a 5 minute walk, you will be greeted by the main road, and busy streets. There is one major mall, known as the State Department Mall, located about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel, where you can get snacks, groceries, and even souvenirs.
Minutes to the famous Chinggis Square
Strolling leisurely for 10 minutes will get you to the famous Chinggis Square, formerly known as Sukhbaatar Square, where you’ll find the statue of a local hero, Damdin Sükhbaatar. He declared Mongolia’s final independence from the Chinese in 1921, and the statue was built in the square to commemorate him. Besides being a hot attraction for tourists, the Chinggis Square is very popular with the locals too. You can see families and kids strolling around, and there are even kiddy rides. Many newlyweds also have their wedding pictures taken at the square!
An excellent choice within your budget
If you are not intending to spend much money on accommodation in Ulaanbaatar, the Kaiser Hotel is definitely a great choice without burning a hole in your pocket. Its strategic location in the heart of the city will enable you to enjoy your visit in the capital of Mongolia before exploring the rest of the country.
