The most popular thing to do at Law Garden is shopping, and it’s probably the most common reason people pay a visit to the place. Though you can shop through the day, some have said the best time to go is at night because then you can get some of the best deals. Shopping at Law Garden is famous because many of the items on sale are unique items native to Gujarat, most of which are clothing. If you’re ready to spend and bargain at the same time, then this is the right place for all you shopaholics!

Food trip

After your shopping spree, you can’t miss the smell of the street food lined around Law Garden. There are several hawkers and little stalls that sell a variety of street food like bhutta and dosa. You should also check out local versions of snacks from other countries. Tourists aren’t the only people who enjoy these stalls; you will surely find locals spending their afternoon break here too.

Of course, what’s a trip to a city park without relaxing? It’s an unusual vast green oasis right in the middle of the bustling city of Ahmedabad so you can be certain that it will be filled with people who wish to relax and unwind. You can take a walk around the walking trails, sit under a tree with a good book, or go on a stroll over the little bridge over a stream. The area surrounding the park is a popular destination for affordable yet quality street shopping in Ahmedabad. The market is particularly very famous for traditional Gujarati clothing, footwear and antique jewellery. 

Don't forget to check out Happy Street, which is located outside Law Garden and is an open-street food court serving an array of cuisines.

As mentioned earlier, there are several food stalls and hawkers waiting to feed your hungry bellies here at Law Garden. This is where you can taste some of India’s favorite street food like buttas, which is roasted corn on the cob, and dosas, which is a thin wrap of batter, almost like a crepe. You can also find perhaps some of the best of Gujarati snacks like dhoklas, which is a vegetarian snack made of rice and chickpeas, and dabeli, which is a type of sandwich with potatoes and a special sauce as its filling. There’s also a lot of ice cream options to help beat the heat!

Much of the things to buy at Law Garden are native to Gujarat or are created by artisans local to the region and city. The merchants here take pride in selling their traditional items and handicrafts, most of which are clothes. This where you can find traditional and beautifully handmade chaniya cholis, lehengas, bandhani saree, and banni, which are traditional Indian clothing. Don’t forget to find matching footwear, jewelry, and accessories to complete your look. Aside from wearables, you can also find some house decors and crafts that you can take home as souvenirs.

Best time to visit

Law Garden is open from morning till around 10pm at night so you have the whole day to enjoy what the park can offer. However, travelers must be aware that it tends to get crowded at the park during the festival of Navratri, which is a big Hindu festival honoring the Hindu goddess Durga. The festivities last for nine days so you can expect a lot of people during these days. It may mean more crowded spaces but it can also mean that you’re in for more fun and culture! There is no admission fee to enter Law Garden either, so you can enjoy hanging around for as long as you want.

Be ready to bargain

Since the highlight of Law Garden is its shopping alleys and stalls, you must be ready with your shopping and bargaining skills. Indians are known to be skilled merchants and are masters at negotiating for the best price. Those selling at Law Garden are well aware of their reputation towards tourists, so your bargaining skills will really be put to the test. You should also be ready to spend money here since it’s really known to be a shopper’s paradise unless of course, you’re not much of a shopaholic! Travelers should also be reminded that they only accept cash here so be ready with your loose change, and cash.

Law Garden is a well-known destination in Ahmedabad and can easily be reached by vehicle, whether you wish to hire a tourist cab or rent a private car. About 25 minutes away from the airport, Law Garden can also be reached from the Ahmedabad Junction by taking the Swami Vivekananda Road.
