The downtown area of Omaha, Nebraska is blessed with restaurants, shopping, and entertainment venues any city would be happy to have. The Magnolia Hotel is perfectly located to access Omaha’s best features. Formerly known as the Aquila Court Building, this Italian beauty was built in 1923 as a combination office and residence building. The Aquila Court Building is one of Omaha’s most distinguished landmarks and was added to the Historic Register in 1974. In 2006, Magnolia Hotels became the new owners and opened up an exciting new chapter in Omaha lodging.

Close to most everything downtown

The Magnolia Hotel is centrally located making it easy to get to whether you’re coming in by car, train, or plane. Call for the hotel’s complimentary car service to pick you up at the airport or train station and be whisked away to your home-away-from-home. Enter the lobby and observe the exquisite marble flooring and walls looking much as they did when the Aquila Court Building opened in 1923. Choose your refuge from a menu of 145 guest rooms and suites. All rooms and suites have access to the hotel’s car service for transportation to restaurants, shows, sporting events, or business meetings within three miles/4.82 kilometers of the hotel. If you like to bring Fido on your trip, you will find the hotel is more welcoming than most. The Magnolia Hotel doesn’t charge extra for your pet and only asks you fill out a damage waiver in case Fido decides to taste the carpet or does one of the things you dread a dog’s teeth, and claws might.

Other amenities include free Wi-Fi in public areas, a business center, a milk and cookie bar (house-made cookies) near the lobby from 8–10 p.m. nightly, valet parking for 20 USD, and an expanded happy hour from 2:30–6 p.m. featuring 3 USD draft beers in The District (Magnolia’s bar and restaurant), and a 24 hour fitness center.

Guest rooms and suites

For the level of luxury provided, a stay at the Magnolia Hotel is quite reasonably priced. A room with one king bed or two queen beds ranges in price from a low-season rate of 105 USD to 160 USD and higher as occupancy dictates. These rooms are spacious and thoroughly modern. Room amenities include free Wi-Fi, fine linens, plush pillows, work desk, armchair, and in-room coffee and tea. These rooms come with a shower only, but if you need a tub, the signature suites offer tubs and more.

Signature suites come in four configurations. A premier king flat provides a peaceful courtyard view, shower/tub combination, separate living room, and 600 sq ft/55.7 sq m to stretch out. A queen or king loft room offers a loft bedroom area, separate living room, kitchen, shower only, two-level living, 1,200 sq ft/111.48 sq m, and courtyard views.

The Magnolia Hotel has a presidential suite (renovated in 2018) that when used as a bridal suite is one of the best in the U.S. for showing off the bride to be. This suite comes with all the amenities of the other suites but adds to that a full kitchen with separate dining room, a unique black-colored brick fireplace, large soaking tub, and a private door that leads to the courtyard below. The suite’s private door allows the bride to exit the suite while the guests seated below, gaze up at the blushing beauty before she descends the stairs into the courtyard decorated for the occasion. This courtyard and suite combination is a rare wedding venue with style and class.

Other reasons to choose the Magnolia Hotel are the extended stay rates for those needing lodging for several nights. Book a home-like suite with a kitchen and living room in the heart of Omaha’s downtown. Why stay at a modern sterile extended stay hotel when you can have this level of unique luxury?

The Magnolia Hotel has 12 meeting/event spaces to consider. Whether your event has 10–300 guests, they have you covered. Full catering services offer snacks, plated lunches, dinner buffets, and more to make your event memorable. In warm weather, an event in the tiled courtyard under twinkling lights will wow your guests.

The Magnolia Hotel’s location puts you in the middle of downtown Omaha’s vibrant arts and dining center. The Orpheum Theater is a half a block away, offering seats to shows like Wicked, Riverdance, and concerts as well. The Old Market area is just a five-minute walk from the Magnolia, where you will find a variety of fine dining, brew pubs, and shopping. Although you could dine at The District in the Magnolia Hotel for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there are loads of dining options nearby. Try M’s for a local’s favorite fine-dining experience, but be sure to make reservations as this is a popular eatery. The hotel’s front desk staff is an excellent source of local recommendations for dining and entertainment.

One of the best

I believe you will find the Magnolia Hotel one of the best small-city hotels in the U.S. and will want to return if business or pleasure brings you back this way.
