Highlights
From Stone-Age relics to 20th-century treasures, this museum traces a mind-blowing amount of one-of-a-kind antiquities to uncover. Here are a few highlights:
Romanesque collection
Wonderfully and atmospherically lit is the incredible display of medieval religious sculptures that takes center stage in the museum’s Romanesque collection. Admire the Berbegal front - a piece showcasing Christ and the twelve apostles. There’s also the museum’s iconic Christ of Perves, which is a detailed sculpture of Christ on the cross.
Gothic collection
The Gothic collection also features many religious-themed artifacts. Virgin with the Child and Maria Magdalena are art pieces of handsome, delicate beauty. Don’t forget to check out the Prior Throne and Amatory Chest.
Al-Andalus collection
Considered an extravagant possession during its time period, guests can view a rare set of rock-crystal chess pieces from the 11th century. This section also has a rudimentary perfume bottle and several eye-catching ceramics.
Things to buy
The Museu De Lleida gift shop is filled with an array of prized souvenirs for purchase. With an inventory of items inspired by the museum’s exhibits and so much more, you’ll certainly find something to stow in your suitcase. Browse colorful t-shirts with the museum’s logo, pretty stationery, fun knickknacks, and handy tote bags.
Though a bit on the pricey side, the gift shop’s jewelry selection is top-notch. Check out the Romeral-style rings that are designed exclusively for Museu De Lleida and reflective of the museum’s mosaics from the 3rd century. A pretty brooch pair is somewhat more affordable and inspired by artwork from the 15th century.
