The Travelodge Newcastle has a certain 70s feel, which harks back to the era it was constructed. Nevertheless, it is clean, has comfortable modern touches and is an ideal base for trips to the Hunter Valley Wine Region in Australia.

Located directly opposite the Market Town shopping centre and only 500 metres from the Newcastle League Club, this hotel is close to many local attractions and is an easy walk to the esplanade, beaches and Darby Street precinct.

Bar snacks are available from 2pm to 6pm and a daily happy hour allows you to enjoy a few drinks overlooking the outdoor pool.

Parking is available at the hotel on a first-in, self park basis and fees do apply. There is also a 24-hour fitness centre located on site.

Easy access to shopping and attractions

Take a stroll to Darby Street, the artisan hub of Newcastle, running 2.7 kilometres from the heart of the CBD to Empire Park near Merewether Beach. Here you will find an eclectic array of stores and galleries to shop and explore.

A great selection of cafe’s and eateries are well worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Choose from the many indoor and outdoor dining options. The Soho on Darby is a restaurant and cocktail bar, located in the building of an old hotel which dates back to the 1800’s. The Soho serves a delicious ‘big breakfast’ and you can choose to dine outside, in the downstairs restaurant or on the upstairs balcony overlooking Darby Street.

Book yourself a relaxing hot stone massage with the lovely ladies at Massage on Darby. Massages are usually by appointment only, we did walk in and were lucky enough to benefit from a cancellation.

Public transport buses run regularly from outside the hotel on King Street and the Market Town shops. They provide a cheap option for travel to Newcastle East, the many beaches or further afield for those wanting to explore the wider local area.

Travelodge Newcastle is only three kilometres from Broadmeadow Racecourse and ten kilometres from Shortland Waters Golf Club. Ferries run from Queens Wharf over to Stockton. Travelodge staff can help with suggestions on where to visit.

A laid-back place for travellers to lodge

Whatever your reason to visit Newcastle, whether for work or play, the Travelodge is a relaxing place to stay. It is near enough for you to walk to many of the city attractions and close to transport if you tire from exploring on foot.

Friendly staff are always on hand to assist with any queries or requests.
