When you’ve got a long layover, or your next flight to your destination has been extended, the last thing you want to end up doing is sleeping in the airport. With very little notice, it can be tough finding a hotel nearby, especially when you had no original plans to stay the night. Even if this circumstance does not apply to you, and you’ve got some time to spend in Jaipur, but want to be close to the airport, I’d like to introduce you to Oyo Rooms World Trade Park (formerly DRS 8586 Haveli). This is an extremely low-cost hotel, situated in a prime location only 3.4 km (2.11 miles) away from Jaipur International Airport.

Arriving and checking in

It will take you roughly 10 minutes, depending on traffic, to arrive at the Oyo Rooms World Trade Park. The hotel is located in a gated area that does lock after 11pm, however, if you happen to be out late, there is a security guard always on standby to let you back through. After checking in, the hotel’s helpful bellboy will gladly assist you by taking your belongings to your room. Once he unlocks the room door, he will then check that the television and air conditioning are both functioning properly before taking his leave, and handing over the key. There is a telephone positioned on the bedside table just in case you need to contact the staff again, or have any questions.

Go ahead, make yourself at home

The rooms have a modern design and are relatively sizeable. The rates start at 749 INR (11.15 USD) per night for one guest, going up to 1149 INR (17.12 USD) for 2 guests, and maxing out at 1549 INR (23.07 USD) for 3 guests. There are two wardrobes for you to place your belongings, one next to the bed, and the other in a small separate room before you enter the restroom. This separate room also has a full length mirror, and is perfect for freshening up in the mornings or throughout the day. You are also given complimentary toiletries, including body lotion, body wash, and conditioner. Unfortunately, there is no shampoo provided. In the restroom, there is a shower with a rainwater shower head, and hot water 24 hours a day. The beds are extremely comfortable, allowing for deep relaxation or to simply lounge while you channel surf on the flat-screen television. There is a personal refrigerator in the rooms, which is perfect if you order take out, or had brought snacks along with you, and you’ll find an in-room tea and coffee maker. If you are in need of water, just make a call to the reception and the bellboy will bring up a pitcher of cold water. This would also be a great chance to ask for any extra towels, a hair dryer, or toilet paper.

Enjoy a complimentary breakfast, or dine out

Breakfast is included in the cost of your stay, and you will be given options such as cereal with milk, fresh fruit, buttered toast, a masala omelet, and the choice of vegetable sandwiches. The small dining area is located on the rooftop, just take your seat, and you will be served shortly. If you do not wish to have breakfast at the hotel, the World Trade Park Mall (opposite the hotel) is open from 9am to 11pm, and has many dining options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Directly west of the World Trade Park Mall you will find Gaurav Tower, which is open from 11am until 11pm, and you will find more authentic Indian cuisine available there. There are also kiosks outside of Gaurav Tower selling many varieties of dosas (a crepe made from using fermented rice batter mixed with black lentils), bhelpuri (puffed rice with vegetables and tamarind sauce), numerous types of rolls (vegetable, paneer, potato masala, and mushroom), along with freshly squeezed juices, and coffee shops.

A few things to take note of

Check out is at 11:00 am, and the Oyo Rooms World Trade Park does accept credit cards. Before booking with this hotel, you will need to be able to provide valid proof of address stating that you live outside of the city. Jaipur, along with other cities throughout India, is infamous for having frequent power outages, however, the hotel does have a full power back up. You will also be provided with complimentary Wi-Fi, making it a great place to do business or leisurely work.
