Ah, Italy! What’s there not to love? Delicious food, amazing sights, beautiful landscapes and so many things to see. Even in smaller towns and villages there’s still a ton of history, like Benevento. The city of Benevento is situated on a hill and like many Italian towns it has a long history. Situated northeast of Naples the town of Benevento was supposedly founded by Diomedes after the Trojan war. It was once called “Malevento” and the Romans thought it to be a site of “bad events”. Nowadays Benevento is home to several historic sites including UNESCO World Heritage sites. For such a small city there are a ton of ancient structures to see and marvel at, so if you’re into Roman history definitely check out Benevento.
