Architecture

All the tombs and mosques in Qutb Shahi Tombs are known for their architectural style that showcases an excellent blend of Persian, Pathani and Hindu architecture. The most prominent features of the tombs include the stunning Persian minarets, the domed structures with quadrangular shape and pointed arches that surround all the tombs.

History

You can gain insights into the history of Hyderabad, especially who the rulers were during the Qutb Shahi dynasty, as briefly mentioned above. In total, seven rulers built the tombs with the most important tomb is the one that belongs to Sultan Quli Qutub-ul-Mulk, the founder of the dynasty. He constructed his own tomb and apart from that, he also built several tombs that were dedicated to his family members like his sisters and nieces.

Sizes of the tombs

If you pay close attention, you can see that not all the tombs come in the same sizes. Some tombs are bigger, while the others are smaller. The bigger tombs consist of two stories and the smaller tombs consist of a single story. What is more, the biggest tomb belongs to Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty.

Auto rickshaw

Depending on where you are from, you may not have rickshaw in your country. If you want to experience something unique, going around with an auto-rickshaw should do. Similar to a taxi, you just tell the driver that your destination is Qutb Shahi Tombs.

Bus

Mingle with the local people by getting on a public bus. You should get off at Golconda Fort Bus Stop.

How to get tickets

Onsite

The only way to get tickets to enter Qutb Shahi Tombs is onsite. One thing that you need to note is that the entrance ticket and the photography ticket are two completely different things. If you pay for just the entrance ticket, you will not be allowed to take pictures or record anything. You will be checked for cameras and phones before entering. But, if you buy the photography ticket, you can take your cameras and phones with you. The photography ticket will cost you another 20 INR (0.28 USD) for each camera.
