Situated in Southeast Asia is a small bustling country known as Singapore, a country that can be hardly spotted on a world map. Nonetheless, it is one of the world’s most developed cities and commercial hubs. Singapore is also known as a tropical food paradise with its wide variety of food available in every corner of its city. From international cuisines at 5-star restaurants to local dishes at the neighborhood food centers, visitors can expect a mouth-watering vacation in Singapore.

The pace of life in a city like Singapore is extremely fast, so if you are looking for a quiet spot to chill and to get away from the city center, there are now many interesting cafes opening in the suburbs of Singapore. One of the interesting spots to explore is Punggol - the northeastern region of Singapore - that houses a chic cafe known as Whisk & Paddle. This is a popular hangout for locals so it is a great chance for tourists to experience a localised cafe away from the main tourist attractions.

Chill and relax by the river

Whisk & Paddle Cafe is located along Punggol Reservoir and its tagline is “Cafe by the River”, an apt description for the idyllic environment of the cafe.

The most convenient way to get to Whisk & Paddle is via a car or taxi. Alternatively, the nearest MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station is Punggol station via the Northeast (purple line, last station) line, followed by 4-stops of LRT (Light Rail Transit) ride to Riviera station. From Riviera LRT Station, the cafe is about a 400 metres (1,312 foot) walk away.

Whisk & Paddle opens daily except on Mondays (unless that happens to be a public holiday). On certain days, the cafe may be closed for private occasions so it is best if you could check their website or Facebook updates before making a trip.

From Tuesday to Friday, their operations starts from 3.30 pm to 10.30 pm, and they are open from 9.30 am to 10.30 pm on weekends and public holidays. On weekends and public holidays, do also note that their kitchen is closed from 2.45 pm to 4pm, hence only drinks and desserts will be available during that time.

From starters, all day breakfast to main courses and desserts, deciding on your selection can be really tricky! This is the same for their drink selection; they offer coffee, tea, smoothies, fresh juices and also beer.

If you are looking for a lighter meal, go for the finger-licking Oriental wings that come with thai chili dip or a bowl of thick clam chowder.

Weekend brunch is available from 9.30 am on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holiday, so early birds can head there for their signature Whisk breakfast set, which comes with a generous portion of pork sausages, bacon, and eggs cooked to your liking.
