Known to be filled with tons of things to do on your way from San Francisco to Big Sur, this journey is for the nature lovers. Taking highway 1, which is a longer way to Big Sur but an unforgettable route because of the things you will get to see along the way, some of these things include; stunning views of the Pacific, a scrumptious meal at the farmer’s market, visiting the pigeon point light station where you might even stay in the lighthouse, whale watching, visiting the national forest and finally getting to Big Sur. At Big Sur, be thrilled by the breathtaking waves of blue waters and mountains on the stretch of Californian’s coast between Carmel and San Simeon. Get involved in some hiking and camping here as well. Best to visit between April and October when the weather is the nicest, it takes about 2 hours to reach Big Sur from San Francisco. 2. Patrick's Point State Park

Along the way to get to this tiny state park, you will get to witness the redwood trees, unsteady shorelines and even drop by the tranquil moonstone beach to catch the sunset. It will be a pleasant drive and you can satisfy your cravings at the Moonstone Grill where there craft cocktails, broiled oysters and delicious desserts before you head to Patrick’s Point. At Patrick’s Point, don’t miss pitching a tent and camping as it is must-do for a night or so to enjoy the ambiance and breeze. On your way to Redding, you can explore the 200 million-year-old caves, hike to waterfalls and of course, eat the yummiest food at really fancy restaurants and bars like The Cook House at Bridgebay, Moonstone Bistro and so on. Although Downieville is known for mountain biking, you don’t have to know the sport to savour moments and memories there. You could simply rent a bike and ride through some trails that you may enjoy - which you can ask around about or simply enjoy the ambience of this gorgeous place. Apart from that, there are several hidden lakes you should visit as well as visiting a historic building built in 1885 which surprisingly still stands tall, up till today. 190miles/306km away from Downieville, it takes about 4 hours to get there. The best time to visit Downieville will be during the warm-weather to take part in certain activities. This weather is usually experienced from late June to early September.

There is also a wild waterfall there that will take your breath away and is said to be the eighth wonder of the world. It is highly recommended to visit the Bumpass Hell which is a large hydrothermal park with boiling pools and plopping mud pots. Interesting isn’t it? Named after a respected pioneer woman, this state park is known as Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. It comprises redwood, tan oak, madrone and even an 80-foot (24-meter) waterfall. The view and place are both unbelievably beautiful and a treat to the eyes and mind. Visit the popular McWay falls. Who doesn’t want to watch the timeless waterfall that gives you tranquillity? The Parrington Cove is another place you can visit and take a relaxing walk or a climb down as you witness the views. as well as the Pfeiffer Beach which is mindblowing when the sun sets.
