Hotel Sion View is located just three kilometres (1.9 miles) from the beautiful Mount Bromo on Indonesia’s island of Java. A popular tourist destination, see the volcano and nearby caldera for a memorable time in the Ring of Fire.

As well as being really close to an amazing area of natural interest, you can enjoy even more magnificent views from directly outside of your room at Hotel Sion View. The hotel has good facilities for travellers, and the costs are reasonable.

Variety of rooms to cater to different group sizes

Hotel Sion View has 73 rooms in total. Standard rooms for two people, sleeping in two single beds or one double bed, cost around 420,000 IDR (approximately 32 USD) per night, and deluxe rooms for two people sharing a queen-sized bed are around 500,000 IDR (approximately 38 USD) per night.

Rooms are en suite with a hot water shower. At the time of stay, however, the water heater was not working in our room.

As well as the bed(s), rooms have a desk with a shower and free drinking water, and the deluxe rooms have a colour TV. Rooms are basic, but the good location makes it a great choice. Standards of cleanliness are okay, and the blankets are nice and warm, perfect if you’re not expecting the cooler temperatures at a higher altitude!

Other room types include family rooms, suites, superior triple rooms, and superior king rooms.

Other hotel facilities and amenities

A basic breakfast is included in the room rate, with toast, jam, and hot tea or coffee to start your day with. There is an onsite restaurant that serves a small selection of dishes at other times of the day, including fried rice, noodle soup, and fried chicken. You can also buy a selection of drinks onsite.

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in the hotel, but only in the restaurant and lobby area. If you stay in one of the rooms closest to the reception you may get a signal in your room, but it is better not to expect it.

Many guests arrive at Sion View Hotel as part of an overnight package tour from Yogyakarta to enjoy the splendour of Mount Bromo. If you have arrived independently, it is possible to arrange jeep hire, plus driver, directly with the hotel. You can then enjoy the freedom of visiting the nearby attractions on your own time schedule.

Gorgeous grounds and beautiful views of the surrounding area

Hotel Sion View is situated up a small hill that overlooks the nearby village and looks out towards the fertile mountains. The great views, along with the convenient location, are what make a stay at Hotel Sion View worthwhile. Accommodation-wise, it’s neither horrendous nor excellent, but the views make it pretty special.

Upper level rooms lead out onto a communal balcony, and you can stand right outside your door just soaking up the beautiful nature before you. Alternatively, there are several wooden tables and benches underneath small wooden canopies where you can sit and soak up the ambience.

Get an early start to catch the sunrise

Wake up early and climb up Mount Penanjakan to watch as the sun rises over the volcanic Mount Bromo. Even if the mornings are misty, and the sun itself is obscured, watching as the black night sky slowly gives way to the light of day is also rather impressive. One of Indonesia’s most famous volcanoes, it really is worth the effort! Don’t underestimate how chilly it can be, especially before the sun is up, and don’t forget to pack a sweater and some long pants.

For lovely views in a top location, book your stay at Hotel Sion View!
