With blue skies, shimmering outdoor pools and tall swaying palm trees, Town & Country Resort & Convention Center puts you into a vacation mood the minute you enter the property.

Located in Mission Valley, Town & Country Resort & Convention Center is a short drive away from most of the attractions in San Diego and it is located just adjacent to Fashion Valley, a huge shopping mall that can fulfill any shopaholic’s need. Read on for what to expect from a stay in this garden inspired resort set in sunny San Diego, California.

Lush greenery and flowery scents

Outside the guest rooms.

One thing that will definitely leave an impression on you when you stay in Town & Country Resort & Convention Center is the lovely garden with acres of lush greenery and blooming flowers.

As you make your way from the lobby to your room, you will walk past ornate stone sculptures and hundreds of rose bushes, making you forget about the Californian sun and beach for a moment and feel transported to a quaint old English rose garden.

You could even catch a whiff of the sweet flower fragrance! With lush landscaping throughout the compound, the chairs and table thoughtfully placed outside of each guest room will make you feel compelled to sit outside just to take in the fresh air and enjoy the greenery in the sun.

Rooms with old-fashioned charm

The interior of a standard guest room.

The standard guest rooms for two are located in quaint bungalows in the resort and come with one king-sized bed or two double beds. While some might feel that the furnishings look dated, I feel that the colourful paintings on the wall, coupled with the wooden furniture and slightly worn bedsheets all add together to exude an old-fashioned charm, which come to think of it, is actually quite matching with the English rose garden environment.

Basic dorm-like bathroom

The clean bathroom.

The bathroom is clean but extremely basic. Don’t expect fancy toiletries, rain shower heads or luxuriously soft bath towels. In fact, it reminds me a bit of a bathroom in a dormitory. You won’t be tempted to take a hot soak in the bathtub, however, you will have a nice shower in a clean bathroom.

The basin is right outside the bathroom and there is a small cabinet that contains a hairdryer, ironing board and iron.

Inviting pool that beckons you for a swim

The outdoor pool.

In sunny San Diego, it is a waste if you don’t make use of the good weather for a swim and a tan. Town Country & Resort & Convention Center has 3 outdoor pools with pool sun loungers and pool umbrellas.

After a long day out, it is a bliss to lounge in the heated outdoor pool surrounded by tropical palm trees.

Basic stay with great location and a beautiful garden

Town & Country Resort & Convention Center is centrally located and a short drive away from most of the top attractions in San Diego like San Diego Zoo, Seaport Village and Gaslamp Quarter, a few of which are even accessible via the light-rail trolley which stops at Town and Country.

Shopaholics will also rejoice at the fact that Fashion Valley, a huge open-air shopping mall with over 200 places to dine and shop, is just a 5 minute walk away from the resort.

Starting at 118 USD per night, Town & Country Resort & Convention Center isn’t exactly cheap for a basic stay, especially since you still need to pay an additional 15 USD resort charge per night that is not included in the room rate.

However, I really like the garden theme, which brings me away from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you feel bored by the “tranquility” though, you can always hit the mall, which is just a short walk away!
