City centers are usually famous for being the most expensive parts of the city, mainly because of their convenience: they allow the travellers to visit all the main attractions within walking distance. Budapest is no exception but if you look carefully, you can find an affordable hotel that offers wonderful panoramas over the city, in a perfect location! Hotel Burg is an example, and it is suitable for single travellers, couples and families, offering you all the facilities you need.

An amazing location

The Hotel Burg is really perfect in terms of location. The gorgeous Matthias Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is less than one minute away on foot, and you will be able to admire it from your hotel window! The neighborhood around one of the “must see” sights of Budapest, “Fisherman’s Bastion”, offers a wide range of hotels, so choose wisely! Located in the Buda Castle District, Hotel Burg can be found near the Buda castle. Amazed by the gothic church, you may not notice immediately the humble, but elegant, red roof of Hotel Burg, which is in front of the sacred place. You have to admit that lying on your bed and having this view from the window is rather satisfying. Be prepared for resonant bells ringing a few times a day. For some it might be an inconvenience, but anyway, you won’t be sitting there all day, will you?

Try delicious fish at Mátyás Pince

Highly recommended by the Hotel Burg is Mátyás Pince, a restaurant appreciated by the tourists, as it serves national dishes, and offers live Gypsy music and folk dance performances every day free of charge for customers. Choose from a wide selection of Hungarian wine, using a menu that comes in six languages. Beautiful wall paintings, wooden tables and medieval decor make the atmosphere unforgettable. It was named after its founder Mátyás Borostyánkői who restored the beer house. It gained international fame and was praised for excellent service, delicious food and best quality of beer since starting in 1873! Its menu is nowadays dominated by fish, but there are still other options. Romantic lights and candles, clean tableware, variety of traditional Hungarian dishes and, of course, wine and pálinka (traditional hungarian fruit brandy) with accompaniment of live music is the best way to describe Mátyás Pince in few words. The medieval interior enchants with colorful paintings and vintage furniture, taking customers into another world while eating. If you want to spend an evening in a royal, historic and traditional place, there is no better restaurant to visit!

All the facilities you need

The gentle and qualified staff working at the hotel will answer all your questions, in English or German, and always have a smile for their visitors. After you get there, ask for a room with a view of the Trinity Square! All rooms have TVs with satellite channels, hair dryers, telephones, air-conditioning, a mini bar, a safe, and free Wi-Fi. The facility offers special spots for smokers, as the hotel has a non-smoking policy in the rooms. Included in the price, the breakfast will satisfy even the most demanding consumers. A big variety of dishes offers meals suitable for vegetarians and diabetics. Even though Hotel Burg has “only” 3 stars, unlike its 4-star neighbors, it offers very high standards for its customers. As you will quickly realize, the Hungarian language is very difficult and not similar to any other European languages, so it’s impossible to communicate unless you have someone to help you.

Fortunately, you can get free maps of Budapest with descriptions of the most important monuments and the receptionist is always willing to give you advice. Also, the room prices are affordable, compared to most of the hotels located around Fisherman’s Bastion. A double or twin room costs, if you book in advance, around 27 EUR (approximately 30 USD) per person. Rooms with private bathrooms are clean and sunny, beddings are fresh and soft and everything in the hotel is elegant and balanced. Ambrosia for breakfast? Don’t miss it! If you have any special diets, don’t worry, everything is already prepared. A long, colorful table offers delicious food, where you can take as much as you want, and whatever you want! Cold and hot drinks, different types of bread, cereal, fresh fruits and vegetables, yogurts, and additions to bread like cold meat or cheese. Everything is fresh, juicy and crunchy.

Privacy doesn't mean loneliness

Even if the hotel’s relaxed atmosphere might encourage you to stay in your room and enjoy a good nap, Hotel Burg didn’t forget about letting you socialize. There is a lobby on the first floor, so that people gathered there won’t disturb those in the rooms. If you want to sit and talk face to face, you will find a suitable room for private conversations. There is a comfy couch which can sit a few people. Free Wi-Fi is also available. Sometimes it may be loud, if children appear or in the evening, when guests are at the bar. The golden-red colors of the interior make it look royal, and encourage you to order cold drinks from the bar and relax. There is also a stony path leading towards Fisherman’s Bastion and the Matthias Church.

As a 100% Budapest born, it was something natural to be a local guide and show my lovely city to foreigners. I am oficially an economist but to be honest, i have never worked in that sector. I much more prefer explaining our history and the present life of locals to you. You can chat with me in English and Spanish, in both languages:)

Born in Paris to Hungarian/ French parents, I moved to Budapest in the 2000s. After having driven my Fashion business to catastrophe, I turned my craving for the wonderful, endless discovery of Budapest into my number one activity, and the first I am so passionate about. As a licensed and qualified tourist guide, I tend to show my guests things they wouldn’t find on their own. My bicultural background is also an advantage as it gives me multiple perspectives to understand Hungarian history and society.

Perfect for every visitor

Staying in a hotel in the city center definitely has its advantages, such as using it as a convenient base while you visit different sites around the city. It saves time, which is so important if you want to see as many places as you can.

Hotel Burg is the perfect choice for you, where most attractions are within a 15 minutes’ walk. You can also take bus #16 to Pest. This line goes from Deák tér in Pest to the heights of Buda, and back.
