On the West side of Koh Lanta is a beautiful fisherman village called Old Town. Known for their houses on stilts sitting over the water, you can rent one and personally experience the daily local life. If a stripped down bungalow isn’t what you’re looking for and you are wanting something with a little more amenities, in the middle of all the bungalows is a beautiful handcrafted, two story overwater bungalow that you can rent through Airbnb.

This beautiful overwater home has two levels equipped with a full kitchen, washer and living room. There is also a large private deck on each floor. With 2 bedrooms and a big living room, this place can sleep a family of 4 comfortably. The master bedroom upstairs has a space with a table for working and a private deck with cushions to sit on and watch the tides go in and out. The main deck has tables and chairs for eating meals outdoors. It has two hammocks to relax and read books while listening to the soothing music of gentle waves.

Location and cost of renting Wooda house

This bungalow comes at a premium price over the rest in the area due to the craftsmanship of the house. This house costs 75.00 USD to 90.00 USD a night, depending what time of year you go. Located close to the end of the main road, the home is located behind a store away from the road for ultimate privacy. You can walk to the center of town where you can make reservations anywhere from day excursions to van rides to the airport. If you’re adventurous, there are motorbikes for rent in town to take yourself around the island.

What to do on Koh Lanta Island

Koh Lanta National Parl

There are many things to do on the island. With the Andaman Sea right outside your door, you are a quick boat ride away from some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in Thailand. You can also hire a longtail boat to take you on a four-island tour, which will also stop at the Koh Mook to swim in the beautiful emerald cave. There’s also a national park - with a lighthouse you can hike to when the tide is low - surrounded by a beautiful beach. Beaches line the west coast and are great for swimming and basking in the sun. No matter what your interests are, there is something to do for everyone.

You’re just steps from Old Town

Staying in this house on stilts, you will be walking distance to the center of Old Town. Known for it’s great seafood restaurants, you can take a break from cooking in your kitchen to eat some fresh fish creations at the many seafood places on the water. Afterwards, you can take a walk on the pier and watch the sunset as you stroll back to your house on the sea.
